What does Oklahoma mean?
Oklahoma is based on Choctaw Indian words which translate as red people (okla meaning "people" and humma meaning "red"). Recorded history for the name "Oklahoma" began with Spanish explorer Coronado in 1541 on his quest for the "Lost City of Gold." Oklahoma became the 46th state on November 16, 1907.
"Bitch-Set-Me-Up West"
FUBamaland sounds good......................
But, what will become of those racist, Rogers and Hammerstin?
The new name for the state is “46”.
Washington Oklahomas has an interesting ring to it...
AntiFascistOma?
Chicago “Blackhawks”, Green Bay “Packers”, vegetarians must be offended, New York “Yankees”, Minnesota, “Vikings”, San Francisco “Giants”, little people have to feel insulted, Seattle “Mariners”, disparaging of the other service branches, and on and on. We are under the influence of a mad regime hoping to gain as much political advantage over the population as possible before they are thrown out on their collective a$$es. Still almost 40 percent of the population are too ignorant to see what is happening to them, their children and their freedom. The teflon tan prevails blocking out the view of the Red menace in the District of Corruption.
Does anyone know why having a state, football team, car, whatever named AFTER YOU or your ‘people’ has turned from being an honor to being a disgrace?
Saginaw
An Ojibiwa name for “Where the Sauk were” Before the Ojibiwa exterminated them and took the land.
Oklahoma will be exempt if it is a blue state.
It’s the reddest of red states. Maybe one blue county last presidential election, none in 08 if I recall correctly.
White-*ss Cracker Barrel ?
Microsoft has midgets with erectile dysfunction all up in arms.
Just as a side note, apropos of probably nothing at all - In Africa, it is the “white” Europeans who are known as “the red people”, because of their propensity to sunburn easily under the tropical sun.
What will be the NEW name of Rhode Island’s NARAGANSETT BAY?
Or either of the DAKOTAS, N and S? In this country there is NO END to “Indian” names.
I think I’ll start up a MAP printing company. There will be NO end to the money to be made.
Wait!!! What about ST. Louis, Corpus Cristi, San Francisco, Los Angeles. Don’t they violate the (you know what.)
Ooh, ooh. What about Maryland, Georgia, and places named after EUROPEAN nobility and kings?
I’ll make a fortune.
Free advice....somebody start up a SIGN company. The $$$$$ will be endless.
LMAO! Okay, it's on now...and this thread has much potential!
"Gamecocks" is offensive to what, roosters? They are going to stop farm wake-up calls and we're all going to starve.
Funny ... in Oklahoma, they think “Oklahoma” means “red earth,” and in Tullahoma, they think “Tullahoma” means “soggy earth.” (One can see the absurdity of “soggy people,” while “soggy earth” is accurate: the area is an upland swamp.)
I’m actually surprised that South Carolina’s mascot hasn’t come under attack already. “Gamecock” refers to cockfighting. It’s now deemed animal cruelty, illegal in many states.
