“I am a red man. If the Great Spirit had desired me to be a white man he would have made me so in the first place.”
Sitting Bull
We are vanishing from the earth, yet I cannot think we are useless or else Usen would not have created us. He created all tribes of men and certainly had a righteous purpose in creating each.
Geronimo
Note Bene: Geronimo died in custody of the US Amy at Ft. Sill. Both Sitting Bull, and Geronimo were brave, proud, warriors.
On a similar note, “Big Bone Lick” State Park (KY) is in serious trouble.
So if I call you an ‘Oky’ would that be the same as calling you a ‘nigger’?
Al Borland is pimpin the Pocket Hoes on TV.
Many years ago, before census records were put online and the only way to search them was on microfilm, I ran across an Indian with the name Oklahoma (first name). I think it was somewhere in southeastern Kansas, perhaps the 1880 census(didn’t keep a record of it—not anyone I was related to). At any rate long before the name Oklahoma was applied to an area.
I was looking at this yesterday...also Indiana. Someone needs to Harry Reid that UNLV’s Running Rebels is a racist name. Also, when is California going to fixing the Catholic names of their cities?
Then, just think of all the place names in CA especially, that will have to be changed as they reflect Christianity.
Norte Tejas suits me.
When I was a kid in south central Pennsyltucky a black kid my age whose father worked on a neighboring farm used to call me red face. It never bothered me.
And just for the record....the popular slur of referring to another person as a “turkey” originated as a pejorative from angry blacks toward white folks....because of our red faces and necks.
FWIW.
I thought it was Spanish for “Home of the Okies”.
Almost heaven.
