The Piano Man has had enough
Piano Man Billy Joel has seen an ivory key or two in his day, but the musician has a message to piano aficionados: Stop killing elephants and rhinos to make instruments.
In support of a New York bill that aims to ban illegal ivory trade, Joel posted this message on his website:
To whom it may concern:
I wholeheartedly support the ivory sales ban bill pending in New York State. I am a piano player. And I realize that ivory piano keys are preferred by some pianists.

I always hated this guy. Now he proves he’s a misguided fool as well.
That is the real solution. Allow for the full trade and sell but only from actual businesses raising and harvesting the ivory. Just like free trade coffee, this business model would end up producing a glut of elephants. But it sounds so much more cool and caring if you make something illegal. You can’t be hip if you run a business.
Why do you hate him?
Commercially it makes sense, Joel is the highest selling singer songwriter of all time.
Wait, is that gone permanently? I was hoping it was only temporary. Why did they have to remove that channel?

Its also part of why Botswana is among the more politically and economically stable nations in Africa. I believe tourism is their primary industry and they recognize the value of their wildlife.
I have an old high school classmate friend from Boyne City who owns Traverse City Products who has gone on several month long hunting safaris to Africa.
On each of his safaris he has taken countless slides and photos detailing his trips which he ultimately has shown to the schools in that area.
His reason for doing this is to show to the kids the conditions in Africa and the efforts going on to actually help preserve the wildlife via the highly regulated hunting of specific species.
A typical month long trip will cost him in the neighborhood of $30,000.00 which includes the license fees of the SPECIFIC animals he will be allowed to hunt.
Virtually every animal he has harvested was provided to the native tribes in that area which was used to feed them.
If I had to live in Africa, I would choose Botswana. Very stable, representative democracy, and fairly wealthy by African standards.

Really? Show me the list..........
Stevie Wonder, not Jackson
He’s not available either
5 minutes of fact checking would have kept him from making an A$$ of himself in public.
Any public figure who opens his mouth, before checking to see if what he is about to spew forth is true, is dumber then dirt.
I doubt he even wrote this.
Why is he hiring stupid people who don't fact check to speak for him?
That is actually much worse.
My keys were made out of Jimmy Carter’s teeth.
It’s a NY bill. Is it a big problem in NY?
OK; we will stop killing elephants and rinos (didn’t know rinos had anything to do with pianos), we will start killing whales and walruses.
I have my own opinion on that.
Who do I blame for “My Life” running through my brain for the next few hours???
