A little boy and his little library are at the center of a little controversy after the Kansas City suburb where he lives forced him to shut it down.

Nine-year-old Spencer Collins decided to share his passion for reading through a small free library in his front yard in Leawood, Kansas. (Via KSNT)

But the Prairie Village Post reports that didn't sit well with the city government, who sent Collins' parents a letter saying, "Your take-a-book, leave-a-book structure must be attached to the house."

Dumbsh*ts. We have “Little Free Libraries” around here. The City of Monroe, NC, hasn’t said they have to be attached to the house.

When are Americans going to find their spines, gird their loins, and tell government weasels at every level to eff off and go shove it where the sun don’t shine? It’s time to just say “no” to these fascist pigs ... What are they going to do - put the entire population into concentration camps?

“What are they going to do - put the entire population into concentration camps?”

Only half of us.

These are the people who lay awake at night terrified that someone, somewhere, is having a good time.

I ran a library out of our garage when I was about 9 or 10.
My dad helped me set it up.
I had a card catalog for the books and also a reference section. (Encyclopedias and atlas of course)
I ran it just like a library...check out books, late fees, etc.

I learned a lot that summer.

As an aside: the only book that wasn’t returned was Dr. Seuss’s Hop On Pop.

Joey Sanchez checked it out in ‘77 or ‘78 and owes me quite a bit of money in late fees. LOL!

How hard is it to attach it to the house? Wouldn’t a cloth line do that?

They may certainly make the attempt ... However, first they shall be made to experience the meaning of “MOLON LABE!”

“... Betchya some scumbucket leftist is behind this heavy hand.”

The heavy “left hand” needs to be countered with a swift upper cut to the jaw of the responsible party, followed by a good right hook, and a sharp kick to the groin, just for the hell of it.

This is about taxing/permits/fees that the city want’s to collect.

That is why they want it connected to the house.

Thanks for that.

He was one of the best!

I had a comic book section in the corner of my garage library. You could take one comic for keeps if you left two.
I netted a ton of “new to me” comics that summer. I was in heaven.
