Oil can be extracted from coffee grounds by soaking them in an organic solvent What is this solvent, how much does it cost and is it used as a catalyst or as part of the fuel? If the solvent costs more than diesel does, what does this really get you?

Coffee grounds are already put to use around here. Mixed as compost, it lowers the pH of our alkaline soil. Makes roses and gardenias very happy!

I hope Gov Moonbeam doesn’t read this. We will have mandatory coffee recycling.
Sounds good enough to run the Navy ships on.

“We estimate that a small coffee shop would produce around 10kg of coffee waste per day, which could be used to produce around 2 litres of biofuel”
Retail price of biofuel .... $4.00
PU Charge: $2.00
Conversion Charge: $1.00
Markup at wholesale: $1.00
Retail Markup: $0.50
Net: - $0.50

Everybody always laughs when somebody comes up with a new idea.
They laughed at Orville and Wilbur Wright too.
Well I think it is a grand idea to take all those coffee grounds and make them into fuel for my car. Somebody should go ahead and do it and ignore all the ridicule.

Sounds good enough to run the Navy ships on. I thought the Navy was the opposite: take engine oil waste and make coffee from it.

"We estimate that a small coffee shop would produce around 10kg of coffee waste per day, which could be used to produce around 2 litres of biofuel," said Rhodri Jenkins, a PHD student in Sustainable Chemical Technologies and first author of the study. In Canadian terms that's $1.40 per liter or $2.80. Wonder how much fuel that truck uses to pick it up. Then we have processing, refining, distribution, government tax bite, profit. .........right!
