Tackling Climate Change Would Grow Global Economy, World Bank Says (Scam Alert)

Fighting climate change would help grow the world economy, according to the World Bank, adding up to $2.6tn (£1.5tn) a year to global GDP in the coming decades.

The findings, made available in a report on Tuesday, offer a sharp contrast with claims by the Australian government that fighting climate change would “clobber” the economy.

The report also advances on the work of economists who have argued that it will be far more costly in the long run to delay action on climate change.

Instead, Tuesday's report found a number of key policies – none of which included putting an economy-wide price on carbon – would lead to global GDP gains of between $1.8tn and $2.6tn a year by 2030, in terms of new jobs, increased crop productivity and public health benefits.

The pro-climate regulations and tax incentives would also on their own deliver nearly a third of the reductions in greenhouse gas emissions needed to keep warming below the 2C threshold for dangerous climate change, the bank said.

The World Bank president, Jim Yong Kim, said the findings put to rest claims that the world could not afford to act on climate change.

Now the banks are climbing on board the CO2 train to hell to get their piece of the Chicken Little pie. How convenient.

Global Warming....what a fantastic way to push more money in the coffers of the ultra-rich while stunting growth of developing countries.

Tax reductions stimulate economic activity. This is true, but the tax code should not be used for social engineering in either a punitive nor stimulative way. It should be only to fund the minimal and necessary functions of government. Scrap the tax code now and get rid of ALL the bennies for special interests. I like a sales tax based approach over an income based system.

Aside from that observation the bank is only trying to go along to get along (in order to keep its own taxes lower.)

Sensible, but neither the democrats nor a lot of republicans in office would support you. Our “leaders” like power too much to govern honestly.

It is stunning that such an influential and august body of world commerce publically embrace and promote The Big Lie. This lie increases their power exponentially; a socialists dream come true.

Amazingly, this is exactly how we did it until the income tax was created! DUH!

More importantly, like you stated, the tax code should not be a punitive nor stimulative "tool" for the government to Lord over us. It should be strictly used to fund the minimum needs of the government - PERIOD! Anything else is a fraud on the freedoms of the American citizens!
