SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Police are investigating a report of a drone peeping into a woman’s apartment window.

Police were called to the downtown Seattle apartment complex on Sunday morning after she spied an unmanned aerial vehicle hovering outside the building. The woman said she was concerned the drone was looking into her apartment.

After calling police, an employee of her apartment building says he went outside and saw two men piloting the drone. They packed up their gear, which included a video camera, and drove off before police arrived. Authorities say they are checking for surveillance video that may help identify the men.

Drones and what role they should play in society have been a hot item in Seattle for quite some time. Last year, former Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn ordered the Seattle Police Department to abandon its plan to use drones after an uproar from citizens and privacy advocates.

Honestly I am more comfortable with perverts taking creepy footage with drones, than I am with the government using them to monitor everyone and everything for our safety.

Hmmmmmmmm, maybe the perverts are in the government already???

I would be equally concerned about both.

You know, for a time, recently, I was considering investing in a drone that I could control, pre-program a route, and do it with a tablet device to record images and video for fun...

Never did the thought come into play that someone could ruin the idea with such perversion/vice etc etc etc...

Well, I guess this helps me save money and invest in something exactly the opposite, like someone here suggested in an earlier post...

I’m thinking something along the lines of a long barreled semi-auto shotgun with some heavier than normal (magnum) shot loads, maybe a #4-#6 shot...I figure the heavier the shot, the more you put up, the better your chances are to knock one out...

The best part...See who comes running in to find their equipment...

Don’t forget to reload...;-)

To my knowledge, no law was broken. A drone is no different from a camera in a car driving down the street looking into uncurtained windows

Yep...That would be hard to even spot from a law enforcement standpoint, much less be a reason to stop and make contact with someone doing that activity...

I believe the perceive threat of unwarranted or unwanted observation by this technology is what has people panties in a wad...And in most cases they would be right to be concerned...

The fact that these guys/gals who were flying this device might have been just flying it around and it happened to get stuck in an area and the appearances of “peeping” (voyeurism is in some areas a crime to a certain degree), is a big concern with the use of this technology...

And, for the record...If you find yourself doing something that you consider to be “private”, or compromising??? Close the shades/blinds!!!

Otherwise, an idea just popped into muh mind, yeah, I know, it happens from time to time...

You know how restaurants put up fishing monofilament line in grids around their outside dining areas??? To ward off bombing runs by birds???

That might be a good idea for private property owners, a static defense mechanism for just such a finite and commercially available technology...

Just shooting from the hip here...

The government claims they can use thermal sensors to look through your walls with no privacy violations.

Curtains don’t provide much protection against prying eyes.

An old Mossberg goose gun with the 41” barrel, and 3” loads with 2 oz. of #2 shot will do the trick.

Poor eating, though.

If it’s legal to peep with a drone, why is it illegal to stand outside a window and peep with your eyes? If the government can peep with infrared, the local pervert should technically have the same “right” to peep with infrared.

I propose that a fine of $5.00 be levied against anyone convicted of shooting down a drone.

Charming lass, but poorly educated.

A shotgun would be more appropriate.
