To all the soccer bashers:

Soccer is boring but baseball is fascinating?

Soccer doesn't take any athletic skill but a bunch of steroid-pumped apes shoving each other around for 10 seconds does?

Soccer is a bunch of guys running up and down a field, but basketball is sheer grace?

Ann, why don't you compare the viewership of the Super Bowl -- football's crowning event -- to viewership of the World Cup championship game? Or even a routine Premier match?

American sports are watched by (some) Americans. Soccer is watched by everybody BUT Americans. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Leave the 700 million or so other people on the planet to watch it all by themselves.

I read a fairly interesting column on some blog somewhere that observed the reason people find soccer "boring" is because there is no break in the action. It's just 45+ minutes of play in a half. So of course there will be slower moments.

On the other hand, when you look at a NFL broadcast, you spend 3-1/2 hours watching 15 minutes of action. But it's not "boring." Go figure.

“Soccer is boring but baseball is fascinating?”

Watching baseball is like watching wet paint dry, whereas watching soccer is like watching wet paint dripping down the wall. Conclusion? Soccer is INDEED more exciting than baseball.
