Yeah. She’s not very talented. She’s only written 5000 songs, recorded and published 350. Many for movies such as “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You” for “The Bodyguard”.
I was in a local honky-tonk a few weeks back and they had a three piece band playing. During a break the lead guitarist let his ten year old daughter sing Jolene with him playing solo. The kid belted out this song so well it was disturbing. It’s a beautiful song.
Dolly is one of the most talented women in country music and Hollywood. My only problem with this charismatic woman is the plastic surgery she’s done that has destroyed her beautiful features. Hello, Dolly! Why did you do that?!

"Jolene" was recorded 41 years ago (1973). In my opinion, she has the perfect voice for her particular genre....purity of tone....and she nails the notes without out employing too many of the vocal gryrations and tricks which define a host of "country" female singers.

They used this slowed-down version in an episode of The Blacklist. Initially, it sounded like a man singing it, but as the episode faded, and the song became more prominent, the song was definitely being sung by a woman. I didn’t know it was the original, just slowed down, though, until I looked into it on IMBD. I figured it was a new artist who’d performed it.
Graham Parsons couldn’t make the look work, but his music was good.

I picked up a recent copy of Guitar Aficianado (sp?), Garcia’s guitars on the cover, but a nice article about Gram, with pics of him wearing a Nudie suit. He wore them well (IMO).
I just read something yesterday where Dolly seems to wholeheartedly support Miley’s antics. One of those things that reminded me that every once in awhile, Dolly just says something weird. Said no one would allow Miley to grow up if she didn’t act that way.
Waaaaaay back in the day, when I was just a wee tyke, I, like all my friends had one of those little 'suitcase' style record players with the four speed settings. And no matter what speed the record was, you just had to try it out on all the others. Really! You had to!
It worked best with Chipmunks albums. Flip it up to 78 speed and suddenly Dave sounded like Alvin on speed.
Flip it down to 16 rpms and Alvin sounded like Dave......on acid.
