San Francisco police are trying to track down the driver of this Mercedes who crashed into a hardware store in the Castro early this morning.
Officer Gordon Shyy says the unknown driver plowed into Cliff's Variety at about 4 a.m., then fled the scene. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
Witnesses told KRON4 that the car was seen racing down Castro at a high rate of speed before the crash.
If you have any information about this incident, call SFPD (415) 575-4444.
It must make them so mad a Mercedes crashed into a hardware store.
I think a SMART car would have been acceptable.

Hardware store in Castro? What do they stock? Gerbil sized pipes?
"Why, yes, officer, that IS my car. It was, um, stolen. Yeah, that's it. My mechanic ran off with it!"
Isn’t the Castro district homo-heaven?
He can’t do that in the Castro district. You’re supposed to use the rear entrance.
3-in-1, lithium grease, ball-joint grease, miscellaneous lubricants, plungers, pipe cleaners, straps, chains, tie-downs, clamps, bastard files, ...
This happens 200x per day in America...
Mostly by medicated 80+ years olds suffering from dementia.
The states DMV’s won’t deny anyone at this point...It’s all about money...
Utility crewmen though a gas pipe had ruptured, until they realized it was just all the lisping going on.
Thank you...I'm here all week. Tip your waitresses and bartenders.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Looking at the window display in front of the car - that’s a hardware store?
A Gay Hardware Store?
Looking at their website, it’s a pretty eclectic offering of products. But given the location, probably a big success.

One can only imagine what is sold at a “hardware store” on CASTRO STREET.
