A police investigator says a ticket scalping ring believed to be reselling World Cup tickets was hoping to get 35,000 Brazilian reals ($16,000) per ticket if Brazil reached the July 13 final.
Inspector Fabio Barucke, who heads the investigation, says Thursday that 11 people were arrested, including the believed ringleader Mohamadou Lamine Fofana of Algeria. More arrests are possible.
Reselling tickets above face value is illegal in Brazil.

$16,000 to get into a a sports game where there is more ‘action’ in the stands than on the field.
It would literally be cheaper to buy a ticket to a neighboring country, rent a hotel room or veg out in a sports bar and watch the final on big screen.
You could send 3 or 4 illegal teens to the US for that price.
I know of no one watching this

Or develop a few dozen IEDs for the next Boston Marathon?
Scalper’s name was “Mohamadou Lamine Fofana” of Algeria. Let me guess his “religious” affiliation...AMISH!
I’m good with everything except the ‘watch the final’ part.
This is why I love the NFL. As a Browns season ticket holder I can legally scalp my tickets and I do every season. We usually make about a 1k profit and still get to see a game or two at the stadium.
Capitalist! You should be ashamed of yourself! /sarc
