Must Miss TV Series (List Series That Stink So We Won't Waste Time Watching)
Self | July 5, 2014 | PJ-Comix

I enjoy binge watching GOOD TV series. My most recent binge watch was "Mr. Selfridge" which I really enjoyed. I do my binge watching primarily via COUCH TUNER where you can watch most of the TV series of the past few years.

However, I don't like to waste my time on lousy series. Therefore list current or past series that should be on a MUST MISS list. I lead off with the new series "Tyrant." I wasted my time with it since it really STINKS. "Halt And Catch Fire" quickly went down the tubes as well.

we know what TV series to avoid

On the next thread you post, ask people what foods they don't like so that you can avoid them. If you follow their advice you'll eventually starve.........

There was already one series listed that I especially liked, so there you go. Everybody's viewing tastes are different and you'll learn nothing if you listen to everyone.......

Much easier to ask what is GOOD to watch, as the list is considerably shorter.

Longmire, Hell on Wheels. Doctor Who. Those are the only 3 shows I find worth watching and would sit through a couch marathon for. (well, and 2 guilty pleasures I will not name).

I AM looking forward to the Ron Moore/Starz production of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series of books. Getting Starz because of it.

Anyone else here a Sassenach?

Bones. Unfortunately my wife likes it for some reason. Flaws are to numerous and onerous to list here.

Hadn't heard of CouchTurner. Interesting site but every time I try to watch an episode I get a page telling me I have to update my video player, then my virus checker jumps up and warns me there is a virus.

What video player are you/others using?

thanks, grayeagle

I am an unapologetic TV FAN. Big screen. Home theater. Etc. The wife and I LOVE it. Yeah, there’s a lot of drek (always has been) but SO much good material out there.

But on to the question. A recent series that I tried twice to get through the pilot but couldn’t as everything about it is bad .. story, acting, etc ...

Sominion on SyFy. TERRIBLE show.

My current favorite (yeah I know not in the question) since Breaking bad is done is Walking Dead.

I’m praying that Game of Thrones isnt filled with the same bilge when I start watching it today.

Bwahahahahahaha! Entertaining? Yes. Fun to watch? Yes. Perverse naked bilginess? Oh, yes indeed.

Do NOT watch it with your parents, children or pastor.

Yeah, some of the shows have a page asking to update on Couch Tuner. DON’T DO IT. Just use screens where they don’t ask that.

Back in 1952 we were the first family in our neighborhood to get a TV. The station came on around 5 P.M. and went off at midnight. For the first 15 minutes etc. there was a test pattern.

I remember some of the kids told me that TV was going to be on in the daytime. I can remember wondering how you would be able to see it in the bright light. Stations commonly went off the air for an hour at a time. I remember WJDM in Panama City changed their call letters and everyone said it was because people claimed the letters stood for: Wait Just a Damn Minute.

There were some really good shows on. Dobie Gillis, The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, The Hit Parade etc.

I am now retired and about the only shows I watch are reruns of the old shows.

Daytime TV can only be described as “Garbage” Maybe garbage is not a strong enough word. It is sickeningly bad. At times 90% of the people on are Black and that is not hyperbole.

Now if the Black shows were funny like “Amos and Andy”, it would not be so bad but these shows are about who is my Daddy, fights, unbelievably trashy interviews etc.

There is not a single primetime show which is really good. I do sometimes watch the sort of crime mystery show with Lester Holt. For a while “Smallville” was pretty good despite being unbelievably PC such as all the Dr.s Psychiatrists Scientists etc being Black and/or Female, usually both. After six or seven seasons, it got unwatchable too.

In short today’s TV is worse than awful.

Sherlock is pretty good.

Recommend avoiding Heroes after the first season.

When I saw Sominion I thought you were making a joke about its slow pace and dull plot.

Maybe you can answer this for me. I watched the series made in 2006 maybe and Sherlock died going over a waterfall with his nemesis,Dr. Moriarty, in Switzerland. Is that how Sherlock Holmes ends?

That was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s way of ending the series but the public demanded his return and eventually Conan Doyle had him escape from the falls and spend several years roaming the world trying to escape Moriarty’s minions before returning.`

If you don’t want to feel like you’ve been molested after watching a program, you’d best stay clear of Game of Thrones.
