Dinesh D'Souza's America premiered at selected theaters this weekend and already has hit over 4 million dollars in tickets sales which would rank it in the top ten movies overall currently released and number one for a documentary. Yet, websites such as Rotton Tomatoes has it listed at under 3 million in box office sales.
Almost 3,000 audience reviewers rank the movie at 4.5/5 stars whereas a handful of professional critics give it a 12/100 score. Amazing the descrepancy until you read the critic's reviews. Clearly, we're dealing with a liberal leftest assessment of the material in the movie not the movie itself.
I found the movie disturbing but riveting. You will too. The movie gives a compelling argument to the idea that there is a wide spread misinformation campaign going on in this country to undermine our uniqueness as a nation and in particular the positive effects of capitalism all over the world.
The main theme is, "What would the world be like, if there was no America?"
All the usual suspects are there starting with Obama, Michael Zinn, Saul Alinsky and Elizabeth Warren. I pray that the latter gets the democratic nomination, as she will at least be honest in her politics and people can then make a clear choice.
D'Sousa allows them all to speak, and they do.
In short, I recomend anyone 8 years old and up should definitely see it.

Saw it last night. It is excellent.
Make sure you stay for the credits to hear Madison Rising sing the Star Spangled Banner. I had to download that version of the song after getting home from the movie.
We saw it last Saturday night in Grapevine. We arrived as the previews began. The theatre was about 3/4 full.
Great flick...it's worth a return trip, lots of info packed into 2 hours.
Yes, but on the RT listing to the left it’s listed at having 2.7$ million. If it were listed honestly there, it would rank in the top movies just released. It has the total box office of 4$ million buried when you bring the movie up.
I’ve followed RT for some time now. I’ve never....I mean I’ve never seen a movie ranked so low by critics and so high in comparison by the audience.
In fact, more frequently you’ll see a movie with sky high critic ratings, yet the audiences don’t like it.

Critics aren’t always right. They panned “It’s a Wonderful Life” when it first came out. How many generations of movie goers proved them wrong?
I know there are a lot more movies which were panned, but audiences loved.
The important thing is YOU liked/loved the movie.
So far, according to Rotten Tomatoes, 82% of those who saw it LIKED the film.
I can’t imagine anyone NOT liking this, because even your left winged fringe out there will like it, because their side is given ample opportunity to speak.

Clearly, the real power bases in the world economically speaking are in India, China. We could turn that around in a heartbeat by lowering our corporate and personal taxes, but for now we’re watching everyone else drink the fruits of our system.

This movie is the perfect example of the disconnect between ideological “Progressive”/“professional” movie reviewers and ordinary folks: 87% of professional reviewers slammed this movie and 82% of actual viewers loved it on rottentomatoes.com.
One reason I haven’t read a “professional” review in a decade. The other is that “professional” reviewers mostly write their reviews to try to impress each other, trying to see who can be the most obscure and erudite.
It was good. It presents solid rebuttals to several ‘America is bad’ themes. Some little known and very interesting historical items in it that will create cognitive dissonance in progs.
And, critics will try to push agendas in movies.
For example, the critics loved Brokeback. Actual ticket sales for Brokeback were disappointing. So I’m sure word of mouth about Brokeback was not favorable.
In that case, the critics wanted to be liberal and push a homosexual themed storyline.
