Woman With Two Husbands Looking for Two More
Bulawayo24 ^ | 27 June 2014

57-year-old Emma Chaleka, a traditional healer from Zimbabwe, is living with two husbands and intends to add two others and bring the total number of her husbands to four according to Myzim.

Chaleka claims that her husband was failing to satisfy her hence she 'acquired' another husband and her dream is to have four husbands under one roof.

Emma confirmed her marriage to Sikabenga and Mudenda saying she is prepared to have four husbands as long as they live peacefully and respecting their 'duties'.

The polyandrous marriage has is the talk in Gadzema heights suburbs and Emma said that her second husband Sikabenga Pendasi (55) of Pickstone Mine was brought in by the first husband Never Mudenda.

"This was done in front of witnesses. We need food and for the house to remain sound as a wife I need a husband to have sex with. But Mudenda was bewitched (runyoka) after he cheated with a married woman," she said.

"He (Sikabenga) agreed, on condition that there were witnesses to this agreement, and Mudenda brought a chicken and called one of our neighbours as a witness.

"It was after five days when Mudenda saw me every morning leaving the kitchen after spending the whole night [sleeping] with Sikabenga that he felt jealous of him.

"Mudenda took my children and they agreed to attack Sikabenga and they nearly killed him. I discouraged my second husband from making a police report fearing that my children would be arrested," narrated Emma.

"I do not fear men. I want to have four husbands, as long as they live peacefully, respecting their 'duties'. I beat up men. Everyone in this community knows that I'm a strong fighter. That's why they fear facing me about this development. They are spreading the rumour about this but I get to know everything in my dreams. Even your coming here was revealed to me in dreams last night," she claimed.

"After Mudenda led my children in attacking Sikabenga, I gave him a dollar as token of divorce and he refused. He also failed to answer why he was against the man he asked me to take as my second husband. I'm not going to let Sikabenga go. If he has infected me with any disease then I have already been affected," she said.

The woman denied being a prostitute or a promiscuous wife.

"I have never cheated with any man. I am very faithful and I respect my body and my spirit mediums. I'm a powerful traditional healer. No daring thief can steal from my house. I have helped many villagers recover their lost livestock and valuables. I know a lot about traditional medicine and herbs," she said.

Emma also cursed her first husband as punishment for turning against their strange 'marital agreement'.

"Mudenda is now undressing me as if I am to blame in this marriage. He will live a cursed life and I am going to make him menstruate like a woman so that he feels the pain and his private parts will be on his forehead.

"He never paid lobola to my father. He came here as my patient before we married following the death of my first husband whom I had 11 children with.

"I have two children with Mudenda and soon I will have children with Sikabenga," revealed Emma.

Sikabenga, a married man who left his family in Binga to be a co-husband said Mudenda introduced him to Emma's father Dick Chaleka (94) who stays with the family.

"I am related to Mudenda by our totem and he is the one who introduced me to his father-in-law who is here as the witness. I left my family in Binga and I'm now living with Emma together with Mudenda but he is now turning against me. I am not going anywhere after the attack," he said.

Sekuru Dick confirmed that Sikabenga was introduced to him as the second son-in-law saying he is going to take Mudenda's 7-year-old daughter to Mozambique as payment for lobola which the father failed to honour.

"Yes Mudenda introduced Sikabenga as the second son-in-law but they both look the same and I do not think Sikabenga will pay lobola.
