Boehner rebuffs Palin on Obama impeachment call, sticks with lawsuit

Boehner's response to Palin's call reflects concerns about the tricky politics behind impeachment proceedings, and Republicans' own record of going down that road in the past. 

New York Democratic Rep. Steve Israel said Boehner is right to stand his ground. "On this, I happen to agree with Speaker Boehner, that we should not be spending our time or wasting our money pursuing the impeachment of this president," Israel told Fox News in an interview. 

Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says the House should consider impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson for not fully enforcing the nation's immigration laws, and suggested that might stop Obama's overreach. 

"I'm not advocating that we impeach the president right now," Bachmann told Fox News. "I'm saying that what we need to do is defund selective portions of the Executive Branch, and impeach certain officials in the Executive Branch."

The Founding Fathers didn't do that and neither did Jesus.

Sorry, but they most assuredly did.

They took a step-by-step process and tried to reason with the King and his men. At each step, the King refused to listen. While they did not tell the King all of their plans, they did communicate at each step of the way in a general sense.

They attempted to follow the legal process of addressing their problems/complaints to the King. When ALL of those attempts failed, only then did they declare Independence and from there war started.

It was a game of bluffing/blind arrogance on the part of the King, but, it should have been clear from the explicit/implicit communication between the colonists and the King, what each next step was going to be.

BTW, this is the reason that Jesus spoke in parable...so that the enemy wouldn't understand what He was saying.

No, the reason Jesus did this was two-fold:

1. To help make what he was saying make more sense to those he was talking too.
2. His parables were meant to confound those wise in their own selves and hard of heart. They were meant to make sense to those of simple faith and an open heart.

If we win the Senate and can get a 2/3's majority...then impeach the worm.

That would be a good strategy, if you believed that elections are still fair in this country, or that Republicans who manage to achieve office are not bought-and-paid-for Dem-lite. If so, you have more faith in what's left of our country than I do.

Boehner doesn’t have standing. He doesn’t represent Congress.

That has not been decided in this case. It will be done with a vote of the House. Once they vote on it, it will be the House suing not Boehner. There a good chance that they do have standing.

The flaw in the lawsuit may be in the language of the bill which may be open ended as far as the authority to add administrative regulations to the law.

The problem with Obama is I think the reality of his radical leftism has hit him square in the face and he doesn’t want to come to terms with it, admit it doesn’t work.

I think Obama is nothing more than a puppet, raised to be the token president through which the true believers can wield power. Thus, Obama doesn't really give a damn what happens or what's going on, as long as he's fed his drugs and gets his special time with the likes of Reggie Love.

As far as the true believers go, the ones really pulling the strings in this administration, as well as the drooling idiots who vote Left, they will NEVER realize nor acknowledge that their ideology doesn't work. The saying that liberalism is a mental disease is very apt. As a life-long Californian, I can tell you this from personal observation. No facts, no logic, no reality will persuade these types that their religion is false. Th only hope we have ever had of keeping this country sane was keeping the real sheep, the low-information public from following the wrong lead. We failed there - the majority now think that Leftism is the true way.

Well, given that the Dim vote is entirely emotional, they need something to get the vote out.

I tend to believe that the courts will rule that they have other remedies besides lawsuits to check the POTUS. He is using his lawsuit as an excuse not to act as he should. In a political manner. Purse/Oversight/impeachment. That is the remedy spelled out by the Constitution for a lawless executive.

My point is not that we should not fight, but that we should lie low until we take the Senate in Nov and then fight with all our might.

If we make impeachment an issue in the Nov election, it will only help to get out the Dim vote.

I want to see the SOB removed from office, not merely "indicted" by the House.

As you probably know, to remove him office the Senate must vote 2/3 in favor of such. That's why the Nov election is so important.

There have been a thread or two here about how, once Boehmer and the House file suit they can add parties that really do have standing.

Average Americans who have been f*cked by this President. Put a human face on the targets of the fascism, using the same tactics perfected by the Libs with people like Rosa Parks.

Then make the fight between the President and them.

It’s actually a damn good strategy, if that’s really the route they’re going.

I completely agree. Impeachment is a political action/remedy. It needs to be treated like any other political action/remedy.

We’re going to have a really great issue to nationalize the elections on this fall: the continuing failure of Obamacare. With the big projected jumps in premiums front and center.

We may have a pretty good secondary issue as well: the border crisis. Especially how Obama is starting to distribute the illegal “kiddos” (including a fair number of cartel/gang youths) out to the states. Seeing MS13 members being “placed” into their communities is going to tick a LOT of people off.

There are other issues as well. Continuing failing economy, which will probably be formallt identified as being in undeniable recession when the Q3 numbers hit in early October.

Impeachment right now is just noise. It’s a distraction. It’ll mobilize the Dem base as much as ours, and piss off the general public that really could care less but would be receptive to a campaign based on Obamacare, the economy and other pocketbook issues.
