Obama's real border issue: a heroin surge

Americans are misfocused on the surge of children crossing the US-Mexican border. The bigger border issue is the rapid rise of heroin trafficking, driven by young Americans switching from prescription painkillers.

The big debate in Washington this summer is the surge of children from Central America crossing illegally into the United States. President Obama and Congress still seem far apart on a solution for this immigration crisis. But they may find it easier to agree on another surge across the US-Mexican border, one that is far more costly.

Since 2008, the quantity of heroin seized along the border has jumped nearly fourfold. That is because the number of heroin users in the US has almost doubled during the same period. Most new users are teens and young adults who started out on prescription opioids, such as Oxycodone. But as those controlled drugs have become more expensive and less accessible on the street under a government crackdown, users have switched to heroin.

Most of the heroin comes from Mexico. US officials estimate the country produces about 26 metric tons of pure heroin a year for a US market that is estimated at 15 to 40 metric tons.

In March, US Attorney General Eric Holder called an increase in heroin-related deaths an urgent health crisis. The number of total drug overdose deaths, most of them from prescription opioids and heroin, is close to surpassing the number of people killed in homicides and traffic crashes.

n a report Wednesday from the White House on the federal strategy toward drugs, the Obama administration set a goal of reducing regular drug use among teens by 15 percent by next year. That is an ambitious but necessary target, one that will entail more effort on a range of antidrug areas, especially in supporting Mexico in its battle with drug gangs.

I can't count the number of junkies I have watched going through withdrawal. They shake, puke, crap themselves, go into a fetal position, cry, lie, manipulate, beg, plead, moan, etc. It's bad. It's so bad that most junkies will do pretty much anything to avoid it. they'll break into your house or your car. They'll rob you on the street. They'll prostitute themselves. They'll rob your store at gun point. They will shoot you. They will shoot you and loot your corpse.

They will also end up owing their dealer money for drugs that have been "fronted" to them. When payment for the fronted drugs isn't forthcoming, drug dealers have a way of compelling you to pay. Some may have you beat into a bloody pulp. Some may have you shot. Some may go after your family. They will all certainly cut off your access to the heroin precipitating the aforementioned withdrawal symptoms.

So, people owing drug money to drug dealers are highly motivated to pay that bill. They will go to extreme lengths to get that money and keep the opiates flowing. A lot of those supposedly thoughtless crimes you read about aren't thoughtless at all. It's all about drugs and drug money. They'll do anything to get their drugs and their drug money.

In light of all of this, is the mayhem in America's inner cities really that perplexing?

So, my point is, America doesn't have a gun problem, America has a drug problem and Obama's open border policy has helped to create this American catastrophe.

China once had an opiate problem. They call that period of time "the opium wars" (think war on drugs). China lost their war on drugs. They call the period of time following the opium wars "the century of humiliation".

The century of humiliation. Wake up America.

Let all of the addicts die. Who cares?

There is too much money floating around in this economy that supports ‘journalists’ like this one who put out crap.
