America's star has not quite fallen, at least according to the Pew Research Centers latest global public-opinion poll, published today. Foreigners don't much like being snooped on, and most countries disapprove of America's use of drones. Yet most places outside the Middle East still view America favourably, and nearly all of them like President Obama (though not as much as in 2008).
The president's approval ratings did however drop considerably in the two countries most affronted by NSA meddling: Brazil and Germany. Yet these opinions should be placed in context. Brazilians have long been suspicious of America, and hardly need evidence of bugged phones to feel aggrieved. Indeed, the country's president, Dilma Rousseff, was once tortured for her opposition to a military government that most people on the Brazilian left believe was supported by America. So it might be odd if America's president was terribly popular there. Meanwhile Germany's internal history with snooping has left the country skittish about any signs of spying by officialdom. And even there Germans view America more favourably now than they did when Mr Bush was in charge.

"Sheboygan, you're on the air with Heather Mills"
They easily could die.
Let them all process through the South Lawn of the White Hut.
Just the other day, some guy in Germany screwed up a business transaction so badly it left me muttering to myself "Don't make us come over there and kick your ass again!". Now with this I'm wondering if they're all certifiably insane or what.
Years ago I was talking history with a colleague from Germany, and made a similar comment:
"We kicked your ass twice!" (it was said in a joking way, not as an insult)
His retort: "Ya, this is true. But it took ze whole vorld to do it!"
I travel frequently to Europe. Mainly Poland and Czech Republic. But while there I go on little trips to neighboring countries.
Aside from good natured ribbing between un I have only had ONE single person bash the USA. And that was some liberal German who blamed the world’s problems on Reagan. He was totally clueless and couldn’t explain why he felt that way. It was just all Reagan’s fault and America is arrogant.
The Czechs and Poles can’t believe what is going on In this country. They are relatively new to this constitutional republic idea and they see Obama as the thug tyrant that he is.
I think it was pretty much US manufacturing and Russian bodies. And that was with the US and Brits simultaneously fighting the Japanese. OTOH, my uncles were in the European theater and did credit the Germans as the best soldiers (not sure, maybe they meant the best soldiers of the Axis).
The world is horrified over what is happening in America. They know damn well what would happen to them if America fell.
The ONLY idiots on this planet stupid enough to actually BELIEVE in American collectivism are American liberals. Even their Leftist Rat and RINO handlers look at them with amazement at their rock-bottom stupidity.
I’ll never believe that. We probably haven’t been liked since Reagan.
Most military historians will concede that man for man they were the best soldiers of the war. The training regimen was as you might expect from the Nazis, ruthless and brutal, but very effective in hardening and toughening up the soldiers before they reached the front. “Through Hell for Hitler” by Henry Mettalmann is the memoirs of an ordinary German landser and is an interesting insight.
I’m not so sure - even the Aussie lefties I know who once thought that Obama had rainbow beams of light coming out of his butt now no longer talk about him - especially those I told he was stuffing up the Middle East when the protests first started in Egypt. Being “not talked about” means you are finished as far as lefties are concerned - at least Conservatives will criticize their own (sometimes too much).
“...nearly all of them like President Obama...”
Then they’re too stupid to care WHAT they think.
