Its been a better all star game than most in recent history.
during the regular season, at least, Vin no longer travels out of the dodgers division. In fact, he doesn’t travel to Denver, which is in the dodgers’ division.
Vin Scully is still alive???
I swear, the only thing that drags out more than The World Cup is the MLB playoffs.
I tried to watch the home run hitting contest but Chris Berman happened.
I quit watching - have they followed Jeter to the can to watch him taking a leak yet? You’d think he was president or something.
I began to listen to Vin Scully broadcast Dodger baseball games in 1960, when KFI carried the games.
Vin does home games and away games in Az, SF and San Diego.
He doesn’t travel much.
But if I recall correctly, he did make an exception for when the Dodgers went to NY to play the Yanks.
He might have gone if they’d invited him.
who won?
Vin Scully does not do Fox (National) games. He just does Dodgers games and only really home games and away games in the NL West. (Although he has done Yankee games in New York).
He’s a national treasure and the only solo booth TV guy left, but he wouldn’t have called this game on TV if it were at Dodgers Stadium. The Buck/Verducci/Reynolds team is the No. 1 broadcast team for Fox (National) games.
These are the network guys who do pretty much every network game. MLB Network picks up Scully’s broadcasts from time to time, but Fox uses its own guys.
Joe Buck, a product of nepotism if there ever was one, is a Midwestern guy (St. Louis).
Angelenos tend to think everything should be according to their lights. They’re much worse snobs than Easterners.
For being such a big Scully fan, I’m surprised that you wouldn’t know that Scully turned down the opportunity, saying that he would have done it if it had been in LA.
The best thing about the All-Star Game.......The Rangers can’t lose.
