One of Broderick Crawford's best moments in an Oscar-winning performance as Willie Stark.

BTW, if 1st class drama isn’t your cup of tea, there’s always the gutbustingly awful, unintentionally hilarious Sean Penn remake from about 10 years ago:

10-4!
Great book too.
Seriously, Penn is an embarrassing hambone.

hard to believe anyone thought that idiot Penn’s version was even in the same universe. Penn sucks.
Focus on Penn Warren. He was the genius, and not only with “All the king’s men.”
True and worth repeating.
The case could be be made that ATKM is the elusive Great American Novel.
I don’t care if it’s Broderick Crawford. Don’t you know you can’t drive a piece of shit like this on the highway!
Sorry I couldn’t resist.
Did he also try to bail out a boat with a red Solo cup in that movie, too?
Too late for the Great American Novel Prize...that one goes to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
You just gave away your age. For people of a certain age the image of Broderick Crawford on his police car radio giving a terse 10-4 to the person on the other end will remain indelibly etched in their minds. I don't know if Crawford would care that's how most people who watched the show would remember him, but that's the way it goes. 10-4.
p.s. Lately I've watched reruns of the show on a cable network, and I'm amazed at how fast Crawford's character spoke. Also, when they described cars, they never gave the make of a vehicle. It was always a "tan sedan" or whatever.
