Climate data show that global temperatures in 2013 continued their long-term rising trend. In fact, 2013 was somewhere between the second- and sixth-hottest year on record for the planet since record keeping began in 1880, according to the climate report, released Thursday (July 17) by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). (Four groups of scientists, who rely on slightly different methods to calculate global surface temperatures, ranked 2013 slightly differently compared with other years.)

The annual State of the Climate report compiles climate and weather data from around the world and is reviewed by 425 climate scientists from 57 countries.

I’ve always wondered what happened to Soviet weather reporting stations when the USSR fell in the early ‘90’s. One assumes that weather data became rather less important than simply finding enough to eat and fuel to use. The absense of these stations, likely reporting some of the coldest temps on earth, would skew the global average by a good bit.

Keep the lie going to span the generations. The indoctrination of the young in government schools continues apace. That’s all they have.

We really didn’t have a spring. Had the heat on at times into June. It snowed on April 16th. The ice on the lakes was an average of two feet thick this past winter. Haven’t seen that since the late 70’s. As a plumber, I saw plumbing lines freeze this passed winter that I never did before since I started in the field 25 years ago. We used an extra tankful of fuel oil this winter due to the cold.

Nights here during practically all summer have never gone above the mid 70’s and are usually in the low 60’s. Typically now they are in the 80’s at night.

This is 60 miles north of NYC.

I don’t believe it.

80s at night? It isn’t that warm at night here in SE Texas even yet.

We have “cool” mornings for here still in mid-July.

We are at about 2/3 of normal for rain. People think it is raining more than usual since the drought has been so long and so deep their point of reference has changed.

Deer had not come into my yard to feed for 20 years but the long winter drove them in here. Don’t the GW advocates always use observations like that to “prove” their theory?

They got caught once putting their thermomoters beside generators and on paved concrete parking lots. They have just found new places to hide the thermometers.

“80s at night? It isn’t that warm at night here in SE Texas even yet.”

Yep, mid July into August it can easily stay in the 80’s at night here. Not this year though.

We were 3 to 4 weeks behind with planting this year.

“The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s most accurate, up-to-date temperature data confirm the United States has been cooling for at least the past decade. The NOAA temperature data are driving a stake through the heart of alarmists claiming accelerating global warming.”

They had temperatures in the upper 30s in northern Wisconsin a few nights ago. It was in the upper 40s overnight here in southern Michigan. Looks like we’ll be getting another cold shot before the month is over too.

They even use different methods on today's data to calculate this year's temperatures. Compare that to looking at a thermometer and when it reads 71 degrees it is 71 degrees. (Note: That was the temp here in south central Pa at 6 pm yesterday when my family sat down to eat outside. By 7 pm some older folks wanted to put on sweaters.)
