'My entire house has been stolen'...

Romanian arrived at his holiday home to find it had disappeared and a field of corn had been planted in its place

A Romanian visited his holiday home only to find a completely empty plot of land with a field of corn planted in its place after his house had been stolen by thieves.

Police in the Romanian port city of Braila got a call from Andy Pascali, 40, complaining that his holiday house on the Danube Delta had been stolen.

At first they thought it was a joke, but when they turned up at the nearby village of Baldovinesti they found not only that there was no property where there should have been a three-bedroom building, but that a field of ready-to-harvest corn had been planted in its place.

A shocked Mr Pascali, who posted the image of the cornfield on his Facebook page, said: 'I think this could only happen in Romania.

'My entire house has been stolen and my neighbours have taken advantage of the opportunity to plant a field of corn instead. Absolutely incredible.'

He said the theft should be a warning to anybody who might be thinking about buying a holiday home in the country that they should make regular checks to make sure it was still there....

He said that he believed the crooks had probably managed to recycle just about everything after slowly taking the house apart while he was not there....

He added: 'I had been worried about thieves maybe breaking in and stealing the television or something, and so I put a barbed wire fence up around the house for added security. But they stole that as well.'

Careful now.

According to mom, my real parents were gypsies who switched me for her kid at the hospital.

This illustrates the difference between Rumanians and Hungarians.

A Hungarian will offer you his house. A Rumanian will steal it.

The Hungarian will offer to sell his mother. The Rumanian will deliver

Several thousand more jokes in this vein. Use the old noggin.

Ah well, back to hoodie inventory.

There is a basis in reality that all gypsies worldwide (mostly in Europe) the criminal kind, children included, originated from Rumania, and spread worldwide.

They are scary. Visit any country in Europe, and you will be warned. The children, working as beggars, are the most unexpected.

My parents have land in the provinces of the Philippines and squatters are a problem.

My BIL, who is from Honduras, has a prime piece of ocean front property in Trujillo, Honduras, that is undeveloped and he and the rest of the property owners along that 20 mile coastline are having horrible problems with squatters as well.......

He and the other owners hired armed guards to keep the squatters out but I don't think that has worked out very well......

FWIW, the Bahia de Trujillo has the most pristine water on the entire Honduran coast line and would normally be a destination for hotels.

Unfortunately the remoteness of Trujillo and the horrible escalation of crime due to drugs and kidnapping in that country are destroying the tourism trade and chasing the hotel chains away........

He makes it sound bad but a notice was duly posted in the basement of city hall that his house was slated for removal to make way for an inter-galactic highway.

“There’s no point in acting surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display at your local planning department in Alpha Centauri for 50 of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start making a fuss about it now."

There is of course that obscure band of East Coast Gypsies known as the Romani Dentoris.

They are know to practice infant orthodontia.

Snek worshipers I hear.

Maybe it was stolen by a Romanian Princess who runs a gambling ring in Oregon?

Gypsies....

Yeah, I can just envision a Gypsy caravan of horse drawn wagons, with the last one pulling a two story summer home as they travel the back roads...........

That happened to my family in Wisconsin. During the height of the depression my dad had just purchased 120 acres which had a 2 story frame house on it with a stone basement located on the back 40 in Adams county which they stayed at during the purchase. Because of WWII a two year interim from visits from Chicago to the placed existed after the purchase. During that time the house was removed board by board stone by stone and was built elsewhere. All that was left was the basement . Fire subsequently destroyed it.

I really feel for your extended family. And if there was a way to help people help themselves in a moral and a constructive way, that would solve so many of the ills that plague our south of the border neighbors.

There would be many American expats that would love to spend their retirement in such beautiful conditions, but the crime as you have suggested will make that transformation impossible, and other less beautiful, but safer regions are sought instead.

I truly hope your brother in law can recover what is his, and the peace and tranquility he sought will come to him soon.
