Hit the Road Barack: Newsweek cover calls out president on policy promises and proclaims all-but-certain Republican victory

Niall Ferguson, a British professor of history at Harvard University, relies heavily on the idea of promises to lampoon Barack Obama into submission - a surprising argument for the historically liberal, and pro-Obama publication.

It is urgent, he argues, to lose the rhetoric and spring for reform.

'I was a good loser four years ago,' he writes. As a 'full disclosure' adviser to John McCain, his sentiments are hardly surprising, but he does not rely on opinion to make his case.

Drawing heavily on unemployment numbers, stagnant growth on the economy and expert dissatisfaction, he presents Mr Obama as a lame duck.

'It is five years since the financial crisis began, but the central problems—excessive financial concentration and excessive financial leverage—have not been addressed,' Mr Ferguson writes.

But more than just his policies are the problem, Mr Ferguson says, it's his decision making abilities.

'After the imperial presidency of the Bush era, there was something more like parliamentary government in the first two years of Obama’s administration,' Mr Ferguson writes.

'The president proposed; Congress disposed.'

'The voters now face a stark choice,' Mr Ferguson says.

'They can let Barack Obama’s rambling, solipsistic narrative continue until they find themselves living in some American version of Europe, with low growth, high unemployment, even higher debt—and real geopolitical decline.'

The nail in the coffin will be Paul Ryan, Mr Ferguson argues. The two met in 2010 at a fundraising dinner.

'Ryan blew me away. I have wanted to see him in the White House ever since,' Mr Ferguson writes.

Big deal, the guy is out anyway. He shouldn’t be the target.

He has 30 months to go. Lots of executive orders to come plus some possible SCOTUS nominations. He can add even more to the enormous damage he has done. Obamacare is here to stay and an amnesty is on its way. These two actions will transform America forever.

Perhaps you missed the real point of Ferguson’s article - that the solution is Paul Ryan.

Have at it.

“After the imperial presidency of the Bush era, there was something more like parliamentary government in the first two years of Obama’s administration,” (Niall) Ferguson writes. “The president proposed; Congress disposed.” …
That’s not how parliamentary government works at all. That’s how the USSR worked, and how Putin’s Russia, Red China and the EU work currently.

People should never, never, underestimate the capability the Republican Establishment has for snatching defeat from the very jaws of victory. They will do their level best to prop up and even resuscitate the moribund Current Regime, and in doing so, will assure the mistakes and active commission of the decline of the territory once known as “the United States of America”, shall be preserved for all posterity.

Stay on target. There is no need to raise ANY monuments to this total counterfeit. Scorched earth should the only lasting reminder he was ever here.

This magazine cover is two years old. Note the date. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)

Obama’s a valid target because we’re sending a message to Democrats: “elect people based what’s between their ears - not based on the color that sits upon their skin.

Same with ‘Hillary’: Don’t elect a person based on what’s between their legs, elect based on what’s between their ears.

Really, democrats need to grow beyond shallow symbolism.

.....Obama’s administration is best described as 'The president proposed; Congress disposed' ....

Yup--lock-stepping party loyalty not seen since 1930-40's era Europe.
Heck, it's dam hard for loyal Dummycrats to restrain themselves.

Kinda reminds me of Peter Sellers trying to subdue
his natural instincts to salute smartly to der leader.

At the Hay Literary festival in Wales, author and PBS historian, Niall Ferguson, spent much of his time dissing one of Obama's first "smart power" speeches, delivered in Cairo in 2009......describing it as "touchy feely nonsense"...

Ferguson has sent out warnings about Obama's failure to come to terms with what Ferguson sees as the potential rise of the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt and the possible "restoration of the caliphate and the strict application of Sharia"........themes at the heart of this new book "Civilization: The West and the Rest"...............

Ferguson's standpoint is that Western dominance has been a progressive civilizing force.....his new book reinforces these arguments postulating that there were six killer "apps" which propelled the West to a position of predominance.

These were competition, science, property, modern science, consumption and work ethic, each with a dedicated chapter in the book.

Ferguson contrasts how China was the world's most advanced civilization in the 15th century but stagnated and was overtaken by Dutch mercantilism and the rise of capitalism employing the six "skills".

In his books, and on his compelling PBS series "Civilization," Ferguson lists "morality" as a strategic strength of Western Civilization. He points out the successful Chinese business city Wenzou also has 1,400 churches.

Note: "SMART POWER"---is a post-Bush term coined by Hillary Clinton.

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn) says WH foreign policy talks 'bizarre'
The Hill | May 23, 2014 | Justin Sink / FR Posted by Cincinatus' Wife

Top White House officials have reportedly been holding private meetings with lawmakers this week to boost support for the president’s foreign policy strategy, although the outreach effort appears to have left some lawmakers confused and upset.

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) described a meeting with White House chief of staff Denis McDonough and National Security Adviser Susan Rice earlier this week as “one of the most bizarre I've attended on Foreign Relations on foreign policy in our country.”

“I know several of us were involved in a very bizarre discussion last night. This continues a very bizarre discussion,” Corker added, according to Yahoo News. But White House officials said the effort was a bid to address lawmaker concerns over the defense budget, the president’s approach to the civil war in Syria, and when U.S. troops will fully withdraw from Afghanistan, according to the Associated Press.

Lawmakers also discussed efforts to find nearly 300 Nigerian schoolgirls who have been kidnapped by the Islamist terror group Boko Haram.

On Thursday, the House passed a $521.3 billion version of the defense bill, which rejected calls from the president to retire expensive defense programs, reduce troop raises and benefits, and close excess bases, as well as the prison at Guantanamo Bay. The White House has threatened to veto the House bill.

Obama announced he was dispatching 80 Air Force personnel to Chad to assist in the search for the Nigerian schoolgirls. ---SNIP--

OH, BTW, AT THE SAME TIME Smartpowertics, O and HILL, staged military raids in Libya, they gained access to the National Bank of Libya. (No, no paper money there---just solid gold bars. Solid Gold. Not the Chinese tungsten filled bars that flooded the gold market).

Read the fine print. The magazine cover is dated 2012.

And look at the damage he's done since then. The next two years ought to finish us off - while Congress hangs their head and draws circles in the dust with their toes.
