Teenage Missionary Accused of Raping Young Children at African Orphanage
KNLA ^ | CNN WIRE

Posted on 07/22/2014 3:37:24 PM PDT by Morgana

An Edmond teenager faces a possible life in prison sentence after authorities say they learned about shocking crimes he allegedly committed on an African mission trip.

The suspect was volunteering at a Kenyan children’s home when he allegedly raped and molested a number of young children.

According to court records, 19-year-old Matthew Durham confessed to raping several young girls, forcing some boys to perform oral sex on him and even making other kids watch.

“This is a young man in our community that made choices to exploit children in an orphanage,” said United States Attorney Sanford Coats. “It’s a true tragedy all the way around.”

The 19-year-old suspect traveled overseas with a group called Upendo.

"There is NO faith which sanctions rape of ANYONE of ANY age for ANY reason."

You've not been following news of Islam lately esp. in Iraq against Christians or in Kenya with Boko Haram, and ...?

This is Africa where raping children is so common, our government spends tens of millions giving those kids birth control.

I don't believe that rape is any more common in Africa that it is anywhere else.
That our government is spending tens of millions of dollars giving "those kids" birth control MUST tell you that the girls are menstrual, that is, "young women."

BIRTH CONTROL for "children"?? HOGWASH. Our government is spending THROWING AWAY millions of dollars in faux sympathy. That is fruitless and STUPID.

It's stupidity and false sympathy from our Pimp President.

“I don’t believe that rape is any more common in Africa that it is anywhere else. “

Tribalism and shamanism in Africa is rampant, many think they gain the attributes of an animal by eating it. They think they can cure AIDS by molesting young virgins.

This is how primitive the place is.

If you think all cultures are equal, they are not.

Here is the thread.

10 years need “birth control”?

BTW- someone should ask USAID how they think a pill can stop HIV/AIDS

This is outrageous!

Everybody knows that only people who work for the United Nations are allowed to rape children!

Better that he be locked in a Kenyan prison for the rest of his life, than in an American prison for ten years.

My husband and I lived in the middle east, Saudi Arabia, for five years. RAPE is unacceptable there, regardless of age, gender, whatever.

Men and women were always separate because they lived in tents on the desert. There were no "rooms," no screens on the windows, no AC, only TWO sections of the tent, one for the women and one for the men. I learned that from our Saudi boss when we were working for ARAMCO back in the 80's.

I didn't have the courage to ask about the "wedding night" of a couple but I'm sure that "arrangements" were made. Now, I don't care. :o)

===========================================

Where you DO see men/boys in a sexual relationship is in the Himalayan highlands, Pakistan, north India, Afghanistan, etc., and other rigidly male/female segregated places where men cannot go NEAR women unless they are married to them.
Young AND grown men used boys for sex because women were never, ever available to them. Horny men used what was available. Young slave boys, I guess, were cheap and easy.

Their style of living was already IN PLACE before Islam came into their lives. It was the way they had ALWAYS lived. I suppose that it's still that way. ISLAM didn't change that. No faith would change that as it seems to be ingrained in their culture from the very beginning of their culture.

There are Islamic fatwas that call for the rape of Christian girls so that they must convert and bear Muslim offspring.

Ten year old girls are getting birth control pills? That's absurd AND useless.

The term "GIRL" says it all. YOUNG women, that is, menstruating, different story.

Some 10-year-old girls have reached puberty. For reasons that aren't entirely clear - but include hormone-treated foods, high-sugar diets, and early sexualization - girls as young as 9 are pubescent.

That being the case, what is a society to do? Should they try to enforce a ban on sex with good-sized 10-year-old girls, or should they try to get every girl past 6 or so on contraceptive pills?

The possibility of promoting Christian chastity for everyone, regardless of sex or age, apparently is rarely considered.

I’m going on what I read - where young girls are raped and then forced to marry their rapist, or, they are stoned for having sex outside of marriage ...all in Islamic countries.

We are talking about RAPE CULTURE. The USAID is doing this instead of trying to stop rape.

At least a quarter of girls in some parts of Africa are raped before they become adults.

This is not even about them “having sex”. This is about rape culture. 25% of men in South Africa admitted to being rapists according to some press reports.
