Etymology:
Mot juste is a borrowing from the French word of thesame spelling and meaning. It entered English in the late 1800s.

I like when the Canadians share word on their bilingual signs. Like at the convenience store, it says:

The people across the river who have a watchdonkey for their goats have bought some peacocks/peafowl-when I was walking this morning, they were in the trees at the fence of that property, screeching while the donkey stood underneath and brayed. I’m sure no intelligent predator will try to grab a goat with all that racket...

I am struggling to come up with the mot juste to describe my freedom. I am out of home physical therapy and will start Monday at the out patient center. I am going out to dinner tonight to celebrate.
Officially, I went from 55 degrees to 80. I cannot wait to hit 120.

They have been popular watchbirds in the boonies for as long as I can remember, and they are good ones, too-and pretty, but these are closer to me-less than 1/4 mile-and no one for a couple of miles can fail to hear their noise and the donkey’s and go see what is going on.
I’m partial to guineas as watchbirds myself-they are easier to manage, hang out with your chickens, etc. The eggs are delicious, too but they like to lay them under brush, not in henhouses so finding them an Easter egg hunt...
They are also smaller and easier to keep and clean up after!
On Tuesday, I finally went down the front stairs by myself...with no railing. Before that I would chicken out. I went out today and walked around the block. Too many neighbors wanting to talk, but otherwise successful. I was tired when I got back and had to get my own ice and cold drink. That is a riot watching me climb stairs with those in tow. I put the drink up a couple of steps then pick it up and move it higher, until I reach the top. I laugh at myself the whole way. I must look silly. I have to wait for dinner till DH is off duty. He accepted a shift driving ambulance AFTER he agreed to dinner out....the party pooper.
