Tom should shut up until he gets a lawyer. A bit late for that. Since he he shot them while fleeing then whatever Castle Law-like protections are available in California most likely just went out the window. If they were fleeing then any threat to his life was past. Expect some level of murder charge within a days.

Sounds like he has already said too much. Maybe he wouldn’t be convicted criminally because of his age, but his civil liability will very likely destroy any assets for his estate. Too bad, too.
