I just watched the original Mel version over the weekend and caught “Escape from New York” about 3 times. Pretty sad when you would rather watch movies made 30 years ago than anything made today.
This is a hard one to live up to. From the trailer it looked like I was watching “Waterworld” on dry land.
I quit even wanting to see remakes of my fave movies. As you said, I’d rather watch the old originals than the PC new ones. At least I know one movie from my youth they won’t attempt to remake...Blazing Saddles.
Dumb da dumb dumb....looks like Thunderdome with lots of CGI crap.
Couldn’t leave well enough alone, could they. Maybe a pre-sequel describing the rise of Knight Rider or something. This looks like crap.
Blazing Saddles was only made possible because Richard Pryor was a writer for it who created most of the very un-PC lines about race. Mel Brooks wouldn’t have been able to do it on his own.
I introduced my daughter to Full House. It is funnier and more family friendly than a lot of Nickelodeon shows.
I had the guys here at work cracking up when I did my best Bane-voiced, “Two days ago I saw a vehicle that could haul that tanker,” line.
Hot dog!
Another Hollywood original. Will they remake the sequels too?
I was shocked to discover that the Warrior Girl in Mad Max was Virginia Hey...AKA Zhaan from Farscape. As Rygel called her, “That great blue b!+ch.”
Oops.....make that Warrior Girl from Road Warrior.
We realized the little girl in “ Water World” is Napoleon Dynamite’s love interest....we are behind the times I guess
Two days ago I saw a vehicle that could haul that tanker,
Ya wanna get outta heah, ya talk to me
I see that Hollywood took my advice to make another movie full of CGI explosions and base it on a comic book, old TV series, or remake of another movie.
Because they can’t do anything original or intelligent anymore.
That being said, I’ll probably watch this anyway... when it comes out on Bluray.
That’s kind of apt since the original concept of Waterworld was that it would be a B-movie Mad Max on water and then Costner blew it up into an epic that it really didn’t have the script to support.
Sadly with Byron Kennedy (”when people are talking nothing is happening and we’re making an action movie”) dead I expect this one to suffer from too much dialog much like Thunderdome. But it looks like it will still be fun and have its moments... much like Thunderdome.
Looked to me to be a complete remake of The Road Warrior.
Looks like pretty much constant death, destruction, and things exploding. Always a winner in my book.
