Missing is any acknowledgement that girls may become women without the sex act, or that it just might be a good idea wait until marriage.

The Left just can't fathom that people may have priorities other than having sex. They are stuck in the fantasy that women who don't sleep around are repressed 1950s homemakers who are slaves to their husbands. The thing that really disturbs them is that a large number of women just may not want to run around having sex before marriage, not because they are repressed but because they have different goals. And having sex is not high on the priority list.
