A 16-year-old Brooklyn Center boy clung to life for days before dying after a suspected drunken driver, without a valid license, fled one crash on a north-metro highway and ran into the teen’s car down the road moments later, authorities said.

On the Saturday before McCarthy died, Vanwagner posted photos of what was left of his vehicle on his Facebook page and wrote, “That’s her front end after I got done with her lol.” He signed that message with a smiley face.

Vanwagner is on probation for a felony conviction in April for terroristic threats. Along with abstaining from alcohol and illicit drugs, the conditions of his sentence include that he remain law-abiding.
They should put this scumbag in jail for 20 years.

Yep, hopefully for a minimum 30 years.
Or just 20 minutes with the kid’s dad, brothers, uncles, cousins, friends, neighbors, random guys from the phonebook ...
The jury will not see this but the judge responsible for sentencing will. Hopefully he/she will take this into consideration at sentencing.
With social media....the jury has already seen it.
The car that was driven right into my son’s face was advertised on Craig’s list a few months ago. “safest car on the road.” Ugh. It had been repaired.
is he rich? Can he plead affluenza and be sentenced to taxpayer funded counseling at $20,000 a month?
In the words of Chris Rock, “Let him toss salad for about the next 35 years”. What has gone wrong with the youth of today?
That would likely turn his LOL into DOA.
I thought that was it and traffic began to speed up. Just after the point
of this cars impact at approx. 1/8 of a mile I noticed somebody running across the other
side of the highway dodging traffic, then manage to jump over the divider wall into
our south bound side. I swerved to miss and he dove to get ahead of my old mustang but
instead met my drivers side wheels in a prone position. His body spun under the 4-inches
and his legs twirled like a top taking out my mirror and window.
A sight and sound I live with to this day.
He died on that highway, and the person he hit also died which is why
he was desperate to flee. 22-Years old, Drunk and stupid.
Another life changed that night, an officer on the scene was hit by another drunk
driver crippling his legs for the rest of his life. He was only diverting traffic and doing his job.
This day was not ordinary for me, it's a day I live with because of the chain
of events that occurred starting with being let go from my job. Then, my girlfriend
informed me that afternoon she was moving to CA and was breaking up. The best
car I ever owned was totaled after I exited to offer assistance to the man
I had just killed.
This person boasting deserves nothing less than a life sentence for
the life sentence of gut-loneliness and the feeling of emptiness he has
sentenced the family of his victim too. If only for his boasting with no concern
for the victims.
Oh my goodness, that is about the worst day I’ve ever heard of. I hope that things are much better for you now.
Now that’s a bad day.
