I see his point, but by definition mentally ill people aren’t thinking clearly. And hence they aren’t able to process the tough love.
I had a cousin who committed suicide. He had no trouble in his life to come anywhere remotely close to being in a concentration camp. But the argument would not have swayed him.
At some point people are responsible for themselves, and at some point the people who say that they aren’t are enablers.
