A twice-a-day pill that can cure baldness caused by alopecia has been developed by scientists.
It has enabled three patients to grow back a full head of hair within the space of just five months.
Researchers now plan to carry out further tests in the hope that it will eventually be rolled out as a standard treatment. Between 1 in 500 and 1 in 1,000 Britons are thought to suffer from alopecia areata and it is most common in young adults aged 15 to 29.
It is thought to be caused by a problem with the immune system which results in cells destroying the hair follicles.
There are no treatments and although some patients hair grows back naturally, others remain completely bald for life

I attended school with a good friend from grades 1-12. By the 8th grade he was bald, with only a fringe of hair about 1 inch high on the sides and back of his head. Strange.
