ORANGEBURG, SC An employee and ex-employee of an Orangeburg Applebees are accused of robbing the restaurant at gunpoint.
Gordon Lamar Brown, 19, has been charged with armed robbery and Christopher Myron Nesbitt, 22, has been charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and possession of marijuana, according to the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety.
Witnesses told police that two armed men entered the Applebees at 2360 Chestnut Street in Orangeburg, around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning with guns and wearing masks.
The manager was in the office counting down the money drawers when one of the suspects approached him, threatened him and demanded money, according to a report.
The suspect is accused of striking the manager in the nose.
The victim told police he didnt know i f he was struck with the gun or the suspects hand, but he did recognize the suspects voice as Nesbitts.
Nesbitt is a current Applebees employee, according to a report.
The manager then left the office to check on employees and ran into the second suspect, police said.
During a brief struggle, the weapon was discharged and the manager pulled down the mask from the suspects face, according to a report. The manager recognized the suspect as Brown, a former employee.
Police said Nesbitt and Brown were later arrested without incident.
Gimme the money, foo, and I aint who you think I is.
They look kinda smart! LOL LOL
Probably the truth.
They couldn’t pick the next Applebee’s or an IHOP? Waffle House maybe?
This is actually common theme with these chuckleheads to rob the place they work for.
There were a couple brothers here in St. Louis that robbed the Steak and Shake they worked for. Killed some employees while they were at it.
These animals put other lives in danger. Instead of wasting taxpayer dollars for years to come, put these wild animals down.
Obviously they knew when the money counting was gonna’ happen, and where. These guys probably have priors and they’ll still get light sentences.
I’m sick of this crap.
armed robbery should be good for 40 years, especially since their weapon discharged....lock them up!!!
While reading this story, I CORRECTLY guessed what their race would be.
Does that make me a racist, bigoted hate-monger, ect? lol
If these two rocket scientists were gonna rob a restaurant, why do Applebee’s? Go for a place that has the big bucks like a Ruth’s Chris, or maybe one of those Hibachi style Japanese Steakhouses? I guess having worked there made them more confident.

Ha! I’ve eaten there. I left a very nice leather jacket there. Came back a month later and it was still there.
No, honestly, they were just turning their lives around....they were going to go to college, then medical school....It isn’t their fault...the manager is a racist....It’s a case of mistaken identity, they were both in Ohio at the time of the robbery...Their grandmother scrubs white folks’ floors for a living...
They should have taken off their name tags.
I wonder if Applebee’s ban guns...
“... the manager pulled down the mask from the suspects face, (and) recognized the suspect”
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
If this happened as stated, the manager is lucky to have avoided execution. Here’s a perfect example of having a POLICY IN PLACE, PRIOR TO NEED. Manager should have known being robbed was a real possibility, and had a plan in place. He could have ‘self-trained’, over and over again, there, in the store:
(”OK, if they come in this way, I can jump there, before they see me. My phone will always be in my pocket, on ‘silent’. If I’m out front...”)
That’s right: we always fall back on our training.
“Go for a place that has the big bucks like a Ruths Chris, or maybe one of those Hibachi style Japanese Steakhouses?”
I’m guessing you’ve never been to Orangeburg ...
I suspect they haven’t perfected their craft yet. A few years of tutoring by more experienced brothers and they won’ t make that mistake again.
