The absolute coolest rocket launch video ever made. One of the big boys (Saturn V).

Exactly! Many fail to remember our ramp up to space exploration (I only read about it) but the hundreds of lives lost in first breaking the sound barrier the hundreds of test rockets wasted in perfecting the right calculations...this is exactly akin to that ...why? Because commercially supplied space exploration is in its infancy and will go through its bumps and bruises before it smoothes out

“The boat in the wrong place...”

Lots of accidents happen when something puts a glitch in the procedure. I can imagine with the delay with the boat, just one more set of procedures where something can go wrong.

“What to you mean Valve 364 wasn’t closed all the way at yesterday’s delay?”

Very true. That said, we are past the point of the excuse of this being a single episode of American incompetence. It is the last in a long line of proof of American decline.

This will be used to point out the joke America has become.

Sad thing is that we cannot deny the truth.

The NASA PA officer said there was around 5000 pounds of cargo aboard Cygnus, mostly supplies for the ISS. I don’t know specifics, although I saw a post from someone on Google+. He said some high-schoolers from Michigan had an experiment on board and were so excited to get it sent up.

Feel kinda sorry for those kids.

During Reagan administration we only had about 20 years of experience, now we have had about 40. WE should know what we are doing. Just saying.

“Just before the explosion, the downblast did something weird. Looks like an engine failure”

I don’t think that point is arguable!

We’ve got our best guys looking at the blueprints, I’m sure:

True. Obama was probably very unmoved by this failure.

Another shot where I noticed a vertically oriented puff of something coming out of the upper body of the rocket:

Looks like the puff on the Challenger in the 86 explosion.

Its amazing we haven’t lost anyone in space yet. Apparently the astronaut who had the coolant leak came pretty close to drowning a while back.

Guys with slide rules, ingenuity, and buzzcuts saved the Apollo 13 crew against astounding odds.

We cannot do many things we could do only 50 years ago.

It’s not a brain drain so much as it is a money drain.

Ferguson, we have a problem...

We’ve had over 80 years of flying aircraft yet accidents still happen and people die. You’d think there’d never ever be airline mishaps but things just happen. We are still to this day in our space infancy.

I’m astonished by the leaps we have made in technology and some forms of technology we still have no grasp of. No matter how well built something is it is still made by men...we are flawed.
