I think people on the far left tend to be nihilistic and to them power is everything. So they see in Islam a social movement that is all about destroying everything that exists and is on a quest for total power - there is no discussion about right or wrong, it is all kill everyone who is in the way and destroy everything. I think a lot of people on the far left identify with that even though they don’t share the Islamists’ view of religion. They see savages who act with orgiastic fury against everyone and they secretly envy the savage and wish that they, too could be savages. Christians represent civilization and order and decency and these are things a savage or a wanna-be savage cannot tolerate.
