One of the most remarkable examples of mimicry occurs in some North American freshwater mussels in the genus Lampsilis. Their young go through a parasitic stage, in which they must attach to the gills of fish and suck their blood before later dropping off and resuming a normal mussel-ish life on the stream bottom.

As with so much evolutionary thought, this begs the question of chicken-and-the-egg. Does the mussel species develop the trait of attracting predatory fish first? Or do the mussel young develop the trait of requiring access to fish gills first? Or do both traits need to spring into existence simultaneously?
Evolution requires more faith than I possess. I'll stick with the Bible. It's far more believable.
As the article says, you have to believe in magic to believe in evolution..................
this begs the question of chicken-and-the-egg.
Global warming is CO2 but the carbon cycle which used to be taught, they don’t want to talk about.
They can’t handle systems....................
the religious see miracles of God, the scientists see miracles of Nature and the two sides proceed to argue about God versus Nature, rather than recognize that what they agree on - that it’s all a miracle.
Reminds me of Al Sharpton and whoever in a NYC political cycle.
Bet hookers say that a lot.
“the religious see miracles of God, the scientists see miracles of Nature and the two sides proceed to argue about God versus Nature, rather than recognize that what they agree on - that its all a miracle.”
How about god working with nature to create these “miracles.”
or just admitting that it’s two different words describing the same universe
Isn’t believing in a super-natural being who wills things into existence by definition believing in magic? Just asking.
I appreciate the thought you are trying to express, you can't have it both ways. As an evolutionist, one can't say that we are all just an almalgamation of chemicals, and the sum total of a series of random action and reactions, then get to claim that there are miracles in nature. They don't get to claim science and then have a point in their equation that says "magic happens here".
They can say things like "highly improbable" and "fortunante coincidence". Better yet, they can teach something as an unproven theory and admit that they simply don't know. They really don't have grounds to say "miracle", though.
No, you’re quite mistaken. As a sovereign human being I can have it however I like it.
Generally speaking, I'm going to accept the facts, opinions and conclusions that support the way I already think and I'm going to reject those that do not. Over time, my opinions may "evolve" but that will be on my terms.
Just being upfront and intellectually honest here.
Which God will allow.
Until you either recognize His Sovereignty, or hit the end of your pitifully miniscule "sovereign" resources.
Isnt believing in a super-natural being who wills things into existence by definition believing in magic? Just asking.
Think of what all happens when you cut your finger. All the chemical reactions to fight off infection, to repair the site, reactions that are different depending on the type of injury. Look at other systems. The deeper we look into a living cell the more amazing it gets. All the “junk” dna we don’t understand, we don’t know what it all does so we call it junk?
Any logical thinking excludes randomness. Randomness leads to less organization, not more. What are you left with?
Magic might be a word you could use but not one I would choose. So what is behind the curtain? Either you are a created being or a random act of nature. Any other options?
They probably share some DNA.
Mussels can perform magic. Especially with a nice Saffron Linguine. In the Pink sauce.
see you’re insisting on a fight, where there is no fight. You believe I am going to burn in Hell for eternity. I do not believe that, but I am fully OK with your believing it.
Your spelling of minuscule on the other hand, is NOT OK.
There is a fight, whether you will admit it or not.
But it isn’t between you and me. It’s between you and God.
I’ll pray for you, and try to be a better speller.
