A-Treat, a Lehigh Valley staple, had notified Redner’s chief operating officer, and White said he learned of the closing about 3:30 p.m.

The A-Treat products currently on store shelves will be the only ones available to retailers, White said. A-Treat self-distributes, meaning each Redner’s branch was on its own delivery schedule, so White couldn’t say when the chain had received its last shipments. …

This is a surprise. More lost jobs in the Lehigh Valley.

When they first opened up for business, I looked over at Martha, and told her that they wouldn’t last.

As Billy Joel sang, we’re living here in Allentown, and they are closing all the factories down............

Sorry to hear that. Living in the West I have no idea of what kind of products they manufactured.

Billy Joel sang it best. ‘Allentown’

This song made me sad back in the 80’s! Guess we’ll never learn...

“And the Union People slunk away...”

The “economy” is “surging forward”, though. Kinda like how al-Qa’eda was “on the run”.

Well, OSHA will soon put a stop to that. If not them, then the EPA or some other unaccountable government bully agency.

I visited a friend there in 1980 and he took me to the store for his dad. They had dozens or hundreds of different bottled soft drinks in every color in nature plus several more. The ones I tried were tasty enough.

They sell sugar water. Sugar water. When you can’t avoid the Federal Government when you make and sell sugar water, we have way too big of a federal government.

Thanks to OSHA all the employees of the company are now safer in their work environment!

Maybe they’re afraid of things that crave sugar and leave a green spectral trail.

There is a little soda bottling plant in Breeze IL called Excel Bottling that looks like that. They also started bottling their own beer about a year and a half ago.

This is awful. Most of my aunts, uncles and cousins on my father’s side of the family is in the Lehigh Valley... I fondly recall visiting my uncle in Bethlehem and there was always a big glass bottle of A-Treat in the fridge with a reusable stopper.

It’s disgusting what they did to Bethlehem Steel over in Bethlehem... it’s now a CASINO. Nobody seems to understand culture rot... a casino? REALLY?

How many families were supported by heavy industry... imagine the pride of a son saying, “When I grow up, I want to work at the mill like my dad, uncles, their dad, mom’s dad and their dad’s dad.

Try to imagine a kid saying when they grow up they want to have a HIGH TECH JOB replacing the voucher printout paper on a nickel slot machine...

Disgusting.

I always refer to A-TREAT as Indefinite Article Treat”

Private joke, sorry to see them gone. When I see the A-TREAT signs outside a small deli or beverage distributor it always reminds me of being a kid. Old fashioned.
