It uses the mitochondrial DNA of one individual to replace the mitochondrial DNA of another which is dysfunctional. Its not like it is using the genetic blueprint of 3 people to product a baby its like swapping out the dysfunctional cellular power plants which are what mitochondria are.

I don’t doubt that scientists at some point will want to try to create freak-shows to make ssm reproduction or even one person reproduction possible by using stem cells to artificially produce sperm and eggs.

I agreed - this procedure, if one reads it carefully, does not really result in a ‘3 parent baby’. So, from a scientific point of view, I would not object. But from an evolutionary point of view, maybe I would. If one’s genes are not disposed to create life, maybe one was never meant to...just saying.
