One of the world's tallest skyscrapers is burning now in Dubai, not an area known for terror attacks to date.
Extensive damage to the sides, exterior and upper floors.
No reported cause yet. Evacuated, but clearly, nobody if additional casualties and victims are trapped on higher floors.

Too bad Brian Williams has been suspended, otherwise, we could get a first hand account of what happened.

From that link:
“A huge fire engulfed the Torch tower in Dubai on Friday, forcing the evacuation of thousands of people in the Dubai Marina. According to local reports , the fire started on the 50th floor of the apartment block and can be seen in this video extending up one side of the building. At 79 storeys high, it is one of the worlds tallest residential buildings. Credit: Instagram/waktaa “

“One resident told the paper that the alarm had stirred many people from their sleep after it went off at 2.05am.
“There have been three fire alarms every week recently and all were false,” they said. “This time I heard it and said it must be false. But then I smelt smoke. I took my wallet and ran down along with my wife. We live on the 59th floor. “
Eyewitnesses told local media that the fire is believed to have started near the 50th floor ...”

CNN is reporting the fire is now out.

The spread if the fire indicates seriously poor design & construction standards. A decades-old building here had a serious fire a few years ago that burned all day (the tenant was a hoarder), but the flames never spread beyond the apartment where it started.

Wiring/elec caught fire on the 50th floor, then slowly burned through the insulation all the way down? A short in the elevator wiring scheme?

The video on CNN shows a huge amount of falling, flaming debris.
Apparently this is now under control / out but someone seems to have badly scr@wed up. Big time.

I noticed that in some of the videos. Sure seems like arson. Did you notice the people standing on their balconies?
