Thanks for the input. I enjoy these threads that go nowhere because the premise of DST is removed from those that sleep all day.

the extra hour of daylight is going to really help accelerate the melting.

That's very much like your water heater joke last week, no?

Tell that to Indiana and Arizona.

Hoosiers fiddle with our clocks now, too. Well, I don't. My digital devices change themselves; my wristwatch, car clock, and alarm clock stay on Eastern Standard Time all year long.

We used to have a cat who absolutely hated the autumn transition to winter (standard) time. Her stomach was on DST, and she did not want to wait an extra hour for dinner. Of course, she was delighted when we went from winter time to summer time.

Cities Once Each Kept Their Own Time

As indicated by this old railroad table. The spokes indicate travel distance from Montreal. The times inside the circles tell what time it is in the various cities when it is noon in Montreal. New York time is two minutes behind (L) Montreal, Boston is ten minutes ahead (E).

New York 0:02 L
Buffalo 0:20 L
Toronto 0:23 L
Detroit 0:38 L
Chicago 0:58 L
Quebec 0:10 E
Portland 0:15 E
Boston 0:10 E

I’m in QA, pointing out the world has done it wrong is my job, and I’m good at it. DST is stupid, period.

It's like when Penn & Teller got people to agree to ban dihydrogen monoxide (which is a chemical name for water) by claiming that dihydrogen monoxide causes burns (when it is hot) and causes corrosion (such as when it gets into a house).

On an episode of their TV show, they got people to line up in droves to sign a petition banning the substance - which is essential for life on this planet.

It's meant to be in good humor to teach people not to be so gullible. But so many people got angry over that show that if you Google dihydrogen monoxide today, you can still see many who have not let it go.

No. You see I don’t care when you get to work or leave. And if everybody took responsibility for their own schedule then they could have the daylight interact with their work hours how ever they chose. DST is you making everybody else get up an hour earlier so you get to have that “extra” hour. Managing your own time is YOU getting up an hour earlier, and everybody else getting up when they want. I work my own schedule, I get up when I want, I go to work when I want, I get daylight where I want, and the only person effected by my scheduling decisions is my wife.

I would propose staying on DST year round. I would far rather have some extra light in the evening than in the morning....

I am totally with you on this one Mom MD. I really like extra light in the evening. I want DLST to stay all year round.
