On March 4, a woman in Mariposa County, about 70 miles north of Fresno, reported several items stolen from her home, including a smart TV, a Wi-Fi Blu-ray, laptop computer, wires and a surround sound system, the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
A few days later, the woman discovered that movies were being watched on her Netflix account, which was linked to the stolen TV and Blu-ray, according to the sheriff's office.
Using Netflix and IP address information, authorities traced the internet usage to Bobby Alexander of Mariposa, officials said.

This is the equal of my arriving at my apartment some years ago and finding an urban outdoorsman trying to jimmy my door open. I think he was a bit surprised to find my handgun screwed into his ear.
If she had a smart TV, she wouldn’t need a Blu-Ray player with wi-fi to get Netflix.

As we always maintained, the best assistance we always had in catching criminals was their stupidity. Had many a “gee let me talk to my buddy in the cell about what I did” cases.

If she had a smart tv, it still would have been stolen.
Some Blu-Ray players have more apps than the smart TV. I have both and find each has certain advantages. Even my old Wi will do Netflix and Amazon. But I didn’t lay out a lot of money for any of the “extras”.
