More than a little smoke and mirrors, as with everything these days. Nonetheless, they're pitching visions of the future at SXSW, filling little skulls with more mush.

It is a script reader. Little more than Obama with a teleprompter reading mindlessly with no conciousness or self awareness. That is not life, you morons.

Daryl Hannah has been a brainless robot for a long time now.

I often wonder why there is this fascination with “creating” “human” life while at the same time so many are obsessed with killing unborn babies and people over 80.

Assuming it becomes possible to make a robot whose behavior and mannerisms are identical to those of a living human being: that robot is still not alive or human, nor does it represent immortality for the person it mimics. When that person dies, he or she is still dead; the best that can be achieved is to have a doppelganger that will remind people of the dead person.

I’m sure something like that would have a market.

But it is not immortality.

Also, that woman Rothblatt seems to have gone off the deep end a long time ago.

Dude, people seem to like the virtual above what’s real nowadays, and that is just sad. Kind of like all those people playing video games simulating life vs. those who really go out and have a life.

When asked by NYT, “What is it like to be a robot?”, she said, “Um, I have some thoughts on that. Even if I appear clueless, perhaps I’m not. You can see through the strange shadow self, my future self. The self in the future where I’m truly awakened. And so in a sense this robot, me, I am just a portal.”

Anyone else get the impression that this content-less response is reminiscent of the old Magic 8 Ball?
