I guess he did not want to repeal the murder laws after all.

and any law that disproportionately incarcerates people of color is repealed," Paul said.

Sounds like murder, mugging, and robbery to me. And, of course, free pot for all, with tax-funded Pot Stamps for all--especially blacks and illegal aliens.

I got to admire this mans pandering. He really has learned to place both ends.

Two faced is what I call it. Another mini Mitt.

Hmm, maybe the reason so many black and brown people are in jail for drug crimes is that they sell their lives and freedom for so little? Or maybe it is the easiest conviction to get, so is the go to for prosecutors?

Wouldn’t the better solution be to encourage black and brown people to respect themselves, others, and the law?

Oh, right, libertarians of today don’t believe in personal responsibility and respect of others.

Just out of curiosity, has the drug trade ceased in Colorado and Washington? Has petty crime related to the drug trade gone down? Wasn’t that the claims made when prohibition of harmless drugs were repealed?

Hint for Mr Paul... Black people want to be able to walk the streets at night. They want black lives to matter in their community. They want leaders who stop waiving the racist card and actually free their streets of gangs, drugs, and prostitution.

Releasing more criminals doesn’t do that.

The War on Drugs is a direct correlation to our lax border policy and illegal immigration.

You seal the border, you deport the illegals, and you win the War on Drugs. Then you can dismantle the DEA, ATF, and most city SWAT units.

There's a reason why politicians want to keep the border open. To continue the militarization of police forces and build up the federal law enforcement agencies.

Paul's comments are pure political grandstanding and doesn't address the source of the issue as outlined.

Also he's going to alienate blue-collar and middle-class whites with this crap just like the Rats have lost white support.

Great, Rand. Bring society down to the lowest denominator.

“White, Asian, and all kids who have chosen the straight path and not gotten into the drug trade, YOU SHALT HAVE NO ADVANTAGES in the Paul America!”

I don’t have the answer but I do know the current and past MO is not working and it is costing us and taking rights even from average law abiding citizens. I’d support the use of statewide pilot programs with different philosophies and evaluate outcomes and tweaks, just as most businesses do before making major policy changes.

For some reason the government thinks they know how to implement major programs by committee and expect them to work. We need to look at other countries and use their experience too.

A big problem is we’ve created a huge embedded interest group that profits off the status quo.

The same conversations were held during Prohibition, but America didn’t take as long to come to its senses after that mistake. And just as it was with Prohibition, the only winners were organized crime and government police power that grew to fight it. Laws that outlaw the mere possession of any thing are antithetical to freedom, for without the requirement of criminal intent, any citizen can be set up and framed with planted evidence. I hate drugs as much as anyone, but I fear a police state even more. We must be cautious of good intentions, because freedom is often lost to thundering applause.

The basis for his desire to repeal drug laws is stupid.

Every law will affect one group more than others.

Secondly, if polls shows Paul gaining any traction with minorities by this pandering, the Dems will pick it up as their own idea and Paul will never win in the general election.

Laws against carjacking are obviously on the list. And of course, knock-out game. We've got to legalize the knock-out game like YESTERDAY.

Rand Paul is coming out as the demagogue that he actually is. To defend people/persons who supposedly have the ability to know right from wrong when such persons blatantly/knowingly do anti social acts is beyond the pale of honesty for even a conniving politician. It could be that such persons actually do not realize their own cultural and behavior deficiencies but to postulate and propagate such is the fault of other persons is certainly not a socially responsible thinking of a person who believes he has the social cure as POTUSA.

The best reason to repeal the drug laws is to keep the criminal Feds out of it. Give the states the right to decide and the power to enforce. Right now, the Feds are devouring all conceivable state and individual rights and the Feds are using their power to create the ultimate police state.
When legal differences arise with respect to different laws in the states, as originally intended, the federal courts can act as arbiters. We certainly don’t need Federal Gestapo agencies with their SWAT teams and civil forfeiture powers to adjudicate and enforce the laws for the whole country.
As far as drug addiction is concerned, this problem will never, ever, be mitigated by the Federal Gestapo agents. Only a return to God and moral living will suffice. Sure, we will have stupid states with stupid drug laws, but I thought that was the whole point of federalism; 50 different laboratories of government.
