Just ran across this nice poster:
http://www.raytheon.com/capabilities/rtnwcm/groups/ids/documents/content/rtn_242005.pdf
(Excerpt) Read more at raytheon.com ...
On the list as under development:
Lyndon B. Johnson
Gabrielle Giffords
John P. Murtha
Kinda makes ya cringe.
Raytheon has put out this poster for a number of years as part of their marketing to the Navy.
Gabrielle Giffords is getting a ship named after her? Just because she got shot? Sheesh.
“...Gabrielle Giffords is getting a ship named after her? Just because she got shot?...”
Since we now hand out Nobel Peace prizes like halloween candy, why not reduce the naming of war ships to a triviality too?
The USS Constitution is still on there, listed as “Other.” It’s cool that it’s on there, but they should try a little harder on describing its mission.
A Monday morning naval ping. So just to be clear, I’m not sure if the spelling of naval equals both ships at sea and the button containing lint. Just so you know this reference is to all the US ships at sea and the brave men past and present and future that man them.
Now I’m stepping in PC Poo by not recognizing the women who serve, but when you know that women should NOT be serving on Combat ready naval assets, what’s to be done?
The link does not include that tumble home thing but a phased array radar instead. The link is to the 2015 chart.
It would be nice if the sizes were all proportional.
“Super Frigate” would do just fine for the Constitution.
Looks like the 2015 poster is missing some ships.
Cowpens, Anzio and Vicksburg (Aegis Cruisers) ...
Also interesting that Pueblo is there, listed as an “Environmental Research Ship” but no mention of her still being a “guest” of the North Koreans.
When Bart Simpson and family were airlifted out of Australia
...what was the name of the “garbage scow”...or was
it a “laundry ship”.. ( ; )
*
Thanks for the ping. It’s a good poster.
None of my Navy remains on the poster. And roger that about women on combat vessels. Guess my age is showing ;-)
