He will be the first to admit he can’t play, all he can play is lead breaks. They may be basic breaks, but his vibrato is rarely matched. I’ve watched him in concert 5 feet away from me vibrating an F note on the lower E string like a hummingbird, just absolutely insane power and control. But putting that all aside, he is a great singer more than anything.

King was never a great guitarist, but he had a big character that filled the stage. In many ways, he was the James Brown of Blues. 20 years ago, he could hold his own with his style, five years ago, he was on stage for people to honor for his past work.

B.B. King got me interested in blues and because of that, I have been able to see so many of that generation of blues musicians before they passed.

I really hope he is getting good care from people who love him. He deserves nothing less.
