Fox is lowering the curtain on American Idol, ending a series that dominated television throughout the 2000s and made stars of the likes of Simon Cowell, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
The network announced Monday that American Idol will go off the air after its 15th season next spring. The cast from the past seasons, with Ryan Seacrest as host and Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. as judges, will return for a season-long celebration of the shows history.

The Voice does a much better job.
At what? Not a single name is known by anybody. The show will NEVER last 15 years. It is on year number 4 and ratings are already down big time. American Idol will always be remembered as a great show and yes probably should have done 10 years but whatever. It made Fox a ton of money.
Seacrest inflicted the Kardashians on America.
Kill it! Kill it with fire!
lolz
Could never replace the Gong Show.
american idol was fun in the beginning, but kind of got old after being on television for 14 years, that is probably the main reason american idol is going to be cancelled after the 2016 season, these programs only have so much shelf life, especially in today’s fast paced world.
just the voice usa left now and america’s got talent when it comes to the usa talent shows, not sure how long got talent will have left on the shelf life though.
