Sorry, from the context I thought you were directing that at me.

Tibet isn’t Theravada Buddhism but Burma is.

The principles we are talking about run through all schools of Buddhism. The following is a good article and I'll excerpt a quote from a Theravadin monk and scholar. He describes self defense as a duty.

War and Buddhism

Yet neither is it "good" or "righteous" to stand aside while innocent people are slaughtered. And the late Ven. Dr. K Sri Dhammananda, a Theravadin monks and scholar, said, "The Buddha did not teach His followers to surrender to any form of evil power be it a human or supernatural being."

To Fight or Not to Fight

In "What Buddhist Believe," the Venerable Dhammananda wrote, "Buddhists should not be the aggressors even in protecting their religion or anything else. They must try their best to avoid any kind of violent act. Sometimes they may be forced to go to war by others who do not respect the concept of the brotherhood of humans as taught by the Buddha. They may be called upon to defend their country from external aggression, and as long as they have not renounced the worldly life, they are duty-bound to join in the struggle for peace and freedom. Under these circumstances, they cannot be blamed for becoming soldiers or being involved in defence. However, if everyone were to follow the advice of the Buddha, there would be no reason for war to take place in this world. It is the duty of every cultured person to find all possible ways and means to settle disputes in a peaceful manner, without declaring war to kill his or her fellow human beings."

“Buddhists should not be the aggressors even in protecting their religion or anything else.”

There is certainly a concept of just war in Buddhism. Burma has gone beyond that, certainly in the aggression toward the Karen Christians, the Shan Buddhists and the Sea People Muslims. The invasion from Bangladesh is something else and should be resisted. The problem I’m Burma is the government domination of the monks.

Burma has gone beyond that,...

The government may have but that isn't the Buddhists.

...certainly in the aggression toward the Karen Christians,...

That isn't so clear cut since the Karen's are not indigenous to Burma and started an often violent separatist movement in 1949. The military junta didn't take control until 1962 and was officially dissolved in 2010.

...and the Sea People Muslims.

I can't even imagine what "gone beyond" means in regards to muslims.

Great going for Burma, too bad for Thailand which should be sinking every one of these refugee boats before they reach Thailand.
