Meet 'capitulating Canadian' Ted Cruz: First attack ad of 2016 race targets Alberta’s own
National Post ^ | May 29, 2015 | Ashley Csanady

The first attack ad of the 2016 presidential race goes after Republican hopeful Ted Cruz’s Canadian birthplace.

Cruz was born to American parents living in Alberta, so while he’s technically a naturalized U.S. citizen, which is a requirement to run for president, he actually lived in Canada until he was four. The outrageous ad in question looks like a parody but it’s 100 per cent real and produced by a third-party group backing Rand Paul for the Republican nomination. The ad refers to him as the “Rand Man” and includes a clearly Photoshopped image of his head on a buff body.

Idiot reporter doesn't even know the difference between natural and naturalized. Regardless, I'll take a Canadian over a Kenyan any day.

His father was a Cuban born Canadian citizen when Ted was born. His mother was an American citizen.

“Cruz was born to American parents living in Alberta, so while he’s technically a naturalized U.S. citizen, which is a requirement to run for president”

Oh, dear. How many inaccuracies can you fit into a single sentence?

Only his mother was an American citizen.

Naturalized citizens can run for president. For that matter, so could Vladimir Putin, or anybody else. They’re just ineligible to serve if elected.

If Cruz is naturalized, he’s not eligible to be president.

Personally, I take natural-born to mean a born citizen, but opinions on the matter differ.

Dual citizenship (Which Cruz had from birth and recently renounced Canadian citizenship)

Maybe the Founding Fathers believed the story that Julius Caesar got his name because he was born by Caesarian section, so they wanted to guard against a President becoming a dictator by insisted that only persons born naturally could be elected.

More likely they didn't want a foreigner to be able to come here and become President. They were wise--just look at all the harm Obama has done.

So far none of our Presidents have been naturalized U.S. citizens.

You would think that a writer that wanted to write an article on someone, would at least look at their Wikipedia page for the basic facts.

Funny graphics whether I agree with the add or not.

I thought Rand Paul has been burning bridges; I’m sorry about that too. He’ll really come under scrutiny, I think he’s heading towards being a Libertarian Candidate some day, maybe the next election.

I remember when Rand Paul was first elected to the US Senate more than a few Freepers were posting, “oh, he’s nothing like his old man” kind of responses. Yes folks he is his father’s son and the truth be told he may be even kookier than the old man!

It’s been pretty quiet on the GOP Internecine Warfare Front so far. It looks like that silence is going to be broken by Rand Paul and his supporters.

This may, of course, hurt Ted Cruz. But, at least for me, it is totally destructive of whatever small chance Rand Paul had of reaching the Oval Office. His actions look desperate. They are desperate.

Enough of this guy. Enough.

Well, since there are about 400 non-democrat I’m kind of sitting back waiting to see how the mess shakes out.

Cruz impresses me as a man that speaks from the heart.

Rand Paul, not so much...

I’m afraid, though, that I may have to hold my nose and vote against whatever democrat commie pig gets nominated if the GOPE does it’s usual crap.

The left ALWAYS tells you who they fear. And it’s clear that the silly Rand Paul and the “third-party group backing Rand Paul for the Republican nomination” also fear him. Rand Paul is marking himself early as the most despicable candidate running for the Republican presidential nomination. He is beyond contempt for MANY reasons.

Rand Paul is as much a scumbag as his daddy. It’s as if their goal is to promote the liberal left

Bingo!!! you nailed it.
Headline after headline had Paul with Cruz or someone. Conservatives will never support the flake and Im sure his support is way down now. Still a few hang out here for some reason.
