Is this guy serious? Could Republican frontrunner Donald Trump actually win?

For two serene months after Donald Trump announced in March that he was forming a presidential exploratory committee, he failed to register in national political polls. People basically thought he was kidding. Donald Trump attack on John McCain war record is 'new low in US politics' Read more

Then something funny happened. Trump, the developer and reality TV star, began hiring staffers in early voting states. He travelled to political rallies. He held a campaign launch event. And his poll numbers began to climb.

Now Trump has climbed all the way to the top. In three of the last four major national political surveys, Trump is the leader in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. A Fox News survey this week had Trump ahead of the Wisconsin governor, Scott Walker, 18-15, with Jeb Bush third. Thousands of enthusiastic citizens have been flocking to Trump rallies, from Arizona to New Hampshire.

He can get to 15% in a 14-way race. That doesn’t mean he can go beyond his RINO base.

I think Trump has a real shot at the Presidency. Not just the GOP nomination, the presidency.

We shall see.

Trump is a clown. This is a guy who said he would put Whoopi Goldberg on the ticket and contributed to Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign. He’s as much a conservative as I am a Martian.

I have been watching Trump carefully.

He is completely serious.

You are opposing him on principle. Maybe you support someone else. But Trump is serious, his positions are fabulous (who else supports American jobs?)

I think he could just win.

While the so-called journalists, the GOPe, the RNC, 90% of his rivals and the big money donors are hollering and screaming bloody, murderous negativity about Mr. Trump and distorting his words, they're also angering his supporters, so IF Mr. Trump decides to go it alone (3rd Party) the GOP, RNC, and no-surname Jeb will have no one to blame but their sorry-ass selves.

None of the other Republican candidates dare tackle my #1 issue like Trump. Clown, RINO or whatever, he has shaken things up. I have no use for the other milquetoast candidates who worry about such things as offending women or fags. I’m spoiling for a fight and Trump just might motivate others who feel the same way. I’m way past the point of merely being pissed off.

By your definition nobody can win. Cruz is at less than 6.

Let this play out, keep agitating and the Donald will go third party to spite you.

Yep, I’m with you. If Trump loses to Cruz or someone else that treated him with some respect (although I can’t name anyone else), he’ll likely throw his support to that person, or at least not run 3rd Party.

If Trump is driven from the race by the Rove/RINO types, I follow him to WHATEVER TICKET he winds up on and will still vote for him. Because between Jeb getting Amnesty through and Hillary doing the same - the end result is IDENTICAL, the country is doomed. So, for the first time in my decades of voting, I’m now prepared to leave the GOP...and just may, depending on how this ends with Trump.

I suspect half of the people on this site and millions more are thinking exactly the same - in other words, there is no path to the White House for Jeb (or similar candidates owned by Karl Rove). So the bottom line is that Jeb is a walking zombie right now - he’s dead, politically, but hasn’t figured it out yet.

But he will.

My strong feelings also. Trump can run away with the election if he takes on Islam (not ‘radical” Islam) with the same passion that he has taken on illegal immigration. And I’d guess he would plead with Cruz to be VP.

I think he has a very good chance to win....he is talking TO the American people instead of AT them...

He is saying things we are thinking and saying amongst ourselves...

He has the position of not being a ‘politician’ so he is ‘one of us’...

Have to see what else he says coming up on some more issues and see how it goes...

Trump might be a “clown”, but Hillary is an a$$ clown”. I prefer Trump to ol’ PIAPS.

Notice how last week nobody could talk about anything else except Trump and the border. Now this weekend its Trump and McCain. The other candidates are getting zippo nada coverage. Its hysterical. Whoever said there is no such thing as bad publicity was right. LOL!

Yep, Cruz is very young - we’re talking 16 YEARS of power between them.

“Notice how last week nobody could talk about anything else except Trump and the border. Now this weekend its Trump and McCain.”

It’s almost as if Trump is BAITING the media. When you read the question and Trump’s answer, one has to think Trump would know this would TOTALLY DOMINATE the news cycle for this weekend a few days more. You don’t question McCain’s ‘war hero’ status and get a free pass.

But yesterday was also a big confab in Iowa with 10 candidates having a forum to get their ideas out. Oh well, guess that didn’t happen due to Trump’s comment...maybe next weekend? Maybe?
