I am surprised that the mainstream media isn’t pushing this story more. Given their liberal bent, and their angst about despoiling mother earth and all that, this story seems to fit right into their template of man’s destruction of the planet.

And the fact that this was an EPA clean up job would get us into areas of bureaucracy and governmental incompetence.

But perhaps due to who is president, the media don’t want to push this story??????

The EPA caused this spill INTENTIONALLY.

A letter to the editor by Dave Taylor, retired geologist, predicted it will happen a week earlier, and that it was easily avoidable. Instead, the EPA moves forward, destroys the river, and requests more cash. They want Colorado mining hurt, and they don't mind ruining a river to get the job done.

$35K a day fine if you don’t turn over your property to the EPA? Wow, the EPA is tougher on American businesses than Obama is on the Iranian nuclear weapons people.

I actually saw some lib on Facebook say that the fault of the spill should be placed solely on the mine owner, because if the Epa had not had to clean up the evil greedy mine owners property, this would have never happened! So that’s the left’s talking point.

As I said when this first came out...My gut said it was sabotage.

I also said don't look at who actually did the deed....but who was prodding the actions which led to the disaster.

Sounds like the EPA sent the same guy who shut down the containment system on Ghostbusters.

I have had government worshiping leftist friends actually defend the EPA on this mess. All I can do is shake my head slowly.

At my last job, we switched solvent systems for our cleaning operation. My boss told me to ask the EPA if we needed permits because we only used 2 or 3 gallons of paint thinner per year. I called them and they sent their team of piranhas to investigate. We had 6 exhaust fume vents in our building to get rid of the smell when we were working with the solvent. Four of the vents hadn’t been used in 4 or 5 years. The EPA asked us for our vent permits. We didn’t have any. Result: New permits for 6 vents at $2500 per vent ($15000). Fine of yearly permit fees for the previous 12 years ($180000). Total $195000.
We wound up having to layoff six workers to pay the fines.
The EPA is nothing more than a group of bandits with authority. My boss told me “Never never never call those people with a question again”.

Letter published in local newspaper a week before the blowout that predicted the blowout!

http://www.silvertonstandard.com/news.php?id=847

It was necessary for the EPA to deliberately create this toxic spill in order to declare the site a toxic superfund site and kill future mining in the region:

One would think the EPA would COOL IT a bit...given the incoming Trump Administration - President Trump will not APPRECIATE them acting as judge, jury, and executioner regarding land they have NO BUSINESS being involved with.

Another government agency acting like fascists. They love their power over the people. The guilty ones should be in jail, but won’t ever be.

unless he allowed the EPA to have access and authority to conduct operations on the site the agency had threatened him with daily fines of $35,000

Freakin morons!!! EPA is the worst and most destructive Federal agency. If they all porn surfed all day America would be doing a lot better and same for the economy.

I would love to take a stroll through EPA offices to see how heavily affirmative action the place is. I will bet 85% of the employees are women and minorities. IDIOTAS!!!
