Route 29 Batman is killed after his Batmobile breaks down along a Md. highway

The Route 29 Batman, whose roadside encounter with Montgomery County police three years ago made him a viral sensation around the world, has died.

Lenny B. Robinson, the 51-year-old Maryland man who drove a black Lamborghini and dressed as Batman to visit sick children in hospitals, was struck by a car on Interstate 70 Sunday night near Hagerstown, Md., after his Batmobile broke down. He was coming home from a car show in West Virginia.

Robinson had just stopped at a gas station, where he met a family whose children were interested in his custom-made car, state police in Hagerstown said. Robinson gave the kids some Batman paraphernalia before leaving about the same time as his new acquaintances. When they saw him pull over, they did the same.

Batman had engine trouble and stopped “partially in the fast lane,” according to a state police news release. He was checking the engine while standing in the eastbound fast lane. The Batmobile was struck by a Toyota Camry, whose driver was not injured. The Batmobile then hit Robinson. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sounds like Batman was short on common sense.

Agreed, however hitting another car in broad daylight (I assume) means driving with your head up your arse.

Breaking down and stopping in the fast lane is extremely dangerous. Try to get to the right ASAP while you are coasting if you can.

The only problem is that most motorists don’t understand what you are trying to do by going to the right side of the freeway.

RIP Lenny the Batman.

You expect a guy dressed as Batman and driving a Lambo to stop in the SLOW lane? C’mon!

Just kidding, a sad day for a humanitarian. RIP

The real Batman was giving kids helicopter rides over the Iowa State Fair.

Yep, that is why you don’t stand in the fast lane.

How terribly sad, we need more people like Lenny these days not less.

Eternal Rest Grant unto Lenny O’Lord

and may perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul and all of the souls of the faithfully departed,

through the Mercy of God,

Rest in peace

Amen

Not funny. With so many doing so much wrong, and even more just apathetic, you choose to make light of the demise of someone doing good for kids.

Schmuck.
