Bulleit whiskey sour, comin’ right up after work.
Dang! Who knew there was a National Whiskey Sour Day? And all I’ve got in the house is vodka.
is there a national sidecar day
The correct way to celebrate whiskey sour day is place two ice cubes into a tumbler, fill with an excellent quality whiskey and then drink.
I like the list of suggested bourbons. Pappy Van Winkle 15 and 20 year-old, for $58 and $93, respectively? Those sell for around that much for a one-ounce pour in bars that can get the stuff.
How to celebrate National Whiskey Sour day???? With a shot of good Scotch ;)
National tequila day (July 24) is also my birthday. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
The night I graduated from high school (1965), a friend of mine had a party. I had my first taste of whiskey in several highballs. I ended up very tipsy, puked my guts out, and felt crappy all week. I’ve never been able to stand the smell of whiskey since. Now I’m a diabetic, and don’t drink any alcohol at all. Sure miss having a Margarita or Bloody Mary every now and then.
"Na, na, na, na, shunnal Sour Whiskey D D D Day? I, I, I, I'll dring, dring, drink to that!"
Two shots of a good blended Canadian whiskey over ice, fill the rest of a tall glass with limeade and, having no maraschinos, a splash of cherry bitters and I'm doin' fine.
Cheers and Happy Whiskey Sours to You and Yours!
Cheers!
If you make your own brandied or cognac cherries, you might consider using Vietnamese or Saigon cinnamon, which really packs a punch. It is now available on the spice rack, and if you have a recipe that needs a strong, spicy cinnamon flavor, it is the go to spice. It even gives cinnamon rolls a kick.
The drunkest and sickest I’ve ever been, July 5,1964, 19 years old, Washington D.C. -——whiskey sours (a few dozen of them). Never again drank another whiskey sour.
The Old Fashioned is a much nobler drink - tough to find a bartender who knows how to make one properly these days.
